The Handsaker House: Layla Lately
http://handsakerhouse.blogspot.com/2014/03/layla-lately.html
Just trying to keep up with ourselves. Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Second grade has been a GREAT experience for Layla. Her teacher has brought out the best in her. I cannot say enough about that woman! The biggest change for Layla this year is that SHE HAS NOT SHED ONE TEAR ABOUT GOING TO SCHOOL AND BEING AWAY FROM MOM! This is the first year this has ever happened. http://handsakerhouse.blogspot.com/2014/03/winter-adventures.html
Just trying to keep up with ourselves. Sunday, March 2, 2014. Once pumpkin season ends and the holidays have come and gone, this Handsaker family takes to the road.and skies. The last 3 months have been full of adventures, including the kids' first snow skiing adventure in Breckenridge. It was a huge hit and one of our favorite family trips. It even beat out Disney World.for which I am secretly thankful! It was his most memorable moment of the trip. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Handsaker House: August 2012
http://handsakerhouse.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Just trying to keep up with ourselves. Monday, August 27, 2012. Mom, which guitar should I play? Cooper asked as he held up an electric in his left hand and an acoustic Buzz Lightyear in his right. I like the Buzz guitar" I say. I like the electric guitar. Isn't it cool? Sure, but I like Buzz.". How about you say you like the cool electric guitar? OK, I like the electric guitar.". It's OK if you like the Buzz guitar. Do you want me to play Buzz? Just say you want me to play Buzz.". She amazes me how she ...

The Handsaker House: San Antonio
http://handsakerhouse.blogspot.com/2014/03/san-antonio.html
Just trying to keep up with ourselves. Thursday, March 27, 2014. It's quite wonderful that the first round of the NCAA tournament is always the week of our kids' spring break. And even more wonderful that ISU has made it to the big dance the last 3 years. This year the Cyclones took us to San Antonio and we had a great time! The kids aren't overly interested in going to ISU games with us during the season, but when tournament time rolls around, they catch the fever. Oh yes, he's in New York City for the ...

The Handsaker House: December 2013
http://handsakerhouse.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Just trying to keep up with ourselves. Sunday, December 22, 2013. Even though there's now snow on the ground, I am still wrapping up pumpkin season. Although our property is cleaned up within hours of closing day, with little to no signs left of The pumpkin Ranch, there is still a lot of administrative tasks to be completed.my least favorite part of running a business! I will put these tasks off as long as I can. It is the only part of my life where I fully embrace procrastination! The very best part for...

The Handsaker House: March 2013
http://handsakerhouse.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Just trying to keep up with ourselves. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. The next morning, with Layla still snug in bed, our friend Jaime on babysitting duty, Dave and I drove to Des Moines to be induced and meet our second child. When I delivered that evening, the doctor announced, "It's a boy! He then asked, "What are you going to name him? And, without thinking, I said, "Cooper David." To which Dave replied, "We are? I said, "Is that OK? Sunday, March 24, 2013. Spring Break was.GLORIOUS! Shot through the heart.

The Handsaker House: May 2014
http://handsakerhouse.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Just trying to keep up with ourselves. Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Then God gave her a little incentive.she saw a little girl at a basketball game who only had a few small tufts of hair left on her head. I didn't see the little girl, but it changed Layla's perspective. Soooo, we got that all cleared up! And today was hair cut day! You've never seen a girl so excited to get a haircut. The sacrifice for Layla was growing her hair for 6 months, not actually cutting it off. She is ONE HAPPY GIRL!

The Handsaker House: March 2014
http://handsakerhouse.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Just trying to keep up with ourselves. Monday, March 31, 2014. A friend recently describe my current season of parenting Layla as the character building season. It's so true. The season where I'm working every day to fulfill her every physical need are over. Now, it's about her deciding who she will be in this world. Towards the end of our conversation she said, "Choosing to love might be the hardest thing I've ever done." I assured her, it's not a "skill" I've mastered! Thursday, March 27, 2014. We had ...

The Handsaker House: My Summer Learning Curve
http://handsakerhouse.blogspot.com/2014/08/my-summer-learning-curve.html
Just trying to keep up with ourselves. Thursday, August 28, 2014. My Summer Learning Curve. Fortunately, we are still on summer break. And I don't know what I would have done without these last 3 weeks. We spent the summer doing and going and it was great! But the last 3 weeks of just unwinding, hanging out at home, and catching up on pumpkin projects has been refreshing. And the next time I reflect on a summer gone by I will have a 7 year old and 10 year old. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
