Until You… | thehamricks
https://thehamricks.wordpress.com/2015/04/01/until-you
A mom, a dad, four boys, and finally a little girl! Shake off the dust… →. April 1, 2015. My sweet love took me on a date last Friday night to Austin. Not just any date, though. This was a date Matt had been looking forward to for quite some time. That day was “ Box Day. 8221; around our house which means we finally opened our SonLight boxes (98 lbs of school stuff) and I knew I’d be engrossed in that material all day – by choice, not necessity. I spent most of the day on my feet. If ...By the time Matt ...

A mom, a dad, four boys, and finally a little girl! Simplify… →. Shake off the dust…. July 9, 2015. The past three months have been productive for the Hamricks. NTC for Matt, a month-long training in the California desert. The boys started mowing yards all over post in order to save for Camp Eagle. We concluded three classes of Financial Peace University. We finished our 2014-2015 school year. We took a week off of school and then started our 2015-2016 school year. I started using PlanToEat. Some blogs I...

A mom, a dad, four boys, and finally a little girl! Shake off the dust…. A Season of No →. July 10, 2015. When life gets too busy, I keep this word in mind:. 1 make (something) simpler or easier to do or understand. Synonym : make simple/simpler, make easy/easier to understand, make plainer, clarify, make more comprehensible/intelligible,. I shared a bit about what’s been going on around the Hamrick home and even with all that we’ve had going on, we haven’t been busy. How do you recharge? You are comment...
homeschooling | thehamricks

A mom, a dad, four boys, and finally a little girl! Flexibility. That’s why we homeschool. There are plenty of other benefits that I could mention, but our main reason for deciding to do this was for the flexibility it afforded us. If you homeschool you know what a funny statement this is! The reason it’s funny is because most homeschooling moms change things every year, and sometimes mid-year! So, I knew. While visiting Mt. Rushmore we also saw a cave. The boys were so LITTLE then! So, the following yea...

A mom, a dad, four boys, and finally a little girl! My camera is a Nikon D300s. For 90% of the pictures I take I use a 50mm 1.4 fixed focal length lens ( Nikon AF Nikkor – 1:1.4 D. For the other ten percent I use a Sigma 18-200mm zoom lens. I carry my goodies in a ShootSac. My ShootSac with Bamboo cover. Take it or leave it! Name that speaker…). My camera and awesome ShootSac. 1 “Do I have any other lenses that I may want to use with my new camera? Have influenced them toward Nikon because of my brand-lo...

Keep it Together: March 2015
http://www.keep-it-together-blog.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 23, 2015. Yesterday was a gorgeous Saturday in March. The sky was blue, the peach blossoms were pink, the grass was green, and the temperature was just right. I took my eldest with me to some photo sessions I had planned at a local Peach Farm. The idea behind it was that she would hold my reflector, make babies smile, and carry my lens bag. All this for the price of japanese take-out. It was a good deal, I tell ya :). Different than clients. I'm not quite sure why? So, for that very reason,...

Saturday, May 30, 2015. Jocelyn loves a new show called Wallykazam. It's super cute and not annoying. Well, not unless you get some of the songs stuck in your head, as I'm prone to do. If you are familiar with Super Why, this show is kinda like that. It helps kids learn pre-reading skills like rhyming and letter recognition. We were enjoying nice weather outside the other week when Jocelyn said she was hungry. "Do you want a snack to eat out here? I asked. "YES! We can have a PICNIC! Links to this post.

Friday, July 31, 2015. The kids, grandma, and I just came back two days ago from a 9 day trip to Deerfield Beach, FL. So, just watch out for pictures and a post about that in the next day or two. Or, if you are on Instagram, then I apologize for my "overgramming" the other day :P You've already seen my trip through my camera phone! I wanted to be home before July 31st because today is our 11 year anniversary. We met in 2001. Got engaged in 2003. Got married in 2004. But so much has remained constant.

Smiling at Tomorrow: January 2011
http://smilingattomorrow.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. Proverbs 31:25. Last week, we set a new record for the longest we've been apart. Mind you, this is not a record that I wanted to set and then break with each passing day. But each day apart means one day closer to him coming home. The past 11.5 weeks have been both easier and harder than I expected. I am tired and rely on Diet Dr. Pepper WAY too much. Oh, how I wish I liked coffee. It's much warmer than DDP! The gremlins typically de-ra...

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. Proverbs 31:25. Have you ever had a good day? Had a good day? His words pierced me. The eldest of my blessings was wondering if I had. Had a good day. Embarrassed and bewildered by his question, I answered in the overwhelming affirmative. However, I realized how my ingratitude had taken a toll on my family. Calls this the hard eucharisteo. I only focused on the hard and forgot about the thanksgiving.the thanks- living. 67 answering lots...

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. Proverbs 31:25. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9. The first waves of Soldiers are just starting to arrive. And I am so thrilled for them! They have served well, and their families have waited patiently for them to come home. My head knows that their proper time is now. My heart is longing for it to be my turn! He is making incredible progress in gene...

Tuesday, July 24, 2012. So, what have I been doing with myself? The kids and I have visited the water park seven times and counting. We've taken advantage of the summer movie passes we bought through the PTA. Seriously, who can argue with $6 for 10 movies in the theater? We have gone to the neighborhood pool. We have baked, sewn, played video games, put puzzles together, and played with the dog. What have I done for me? Will look like this when I'm done:. Sunday, July 22, 2012. So how often and how long ...
Fancy Lady Time: It Ain't Always Smooth
http://fancy-lady-time.blogspot.com/2014/01/it-aint-always-smooth.html
Friday, January 3, 2014. It Ain't Always Smooth. We missed Thanksgiving because she was sick with the croup and passed the virus to me. In adults it just presents as a bad cold coupled with laryngitis. Nifty. We missed the family gathering to stay home with our germs. She got the flu right before Christmas, so no quick visit to the grandparents. I think her immune system is rebuilding after surgery. It's also the first year of school and she's picking up all the fun-times germs. It Aint Always Smooth.

A mom, a dad, and four boys. A Season of No. July 14, 2015. I am in the middle of summer. I can assure you that this season of rest has come at the expense of really good things. We have had to say no to some really great opportunities. Our family is resting right now and it cost each of us something but the benefits have been well worth it. I have been able to read more in the past few months and one of those books was, “ The Best Yes. 8221; by Lysa TerKeurst. While I ran.). Taking my no even farther: w...

Horribly Awful Movie Society
Episode 7 - Birdemic: Shock and Terror. And we’re back! Summer vacation is finally over and we’ve got a bunch more awful, garbage movies for ya! Let’s start things off with quite possibly the very worst yet, 2008’s Birdemic: Shock and Terror! With wooden acting, preachy dialogue, shoe-string special FX and wind blowing directly into the mic in basically every single shot, this movie never ceases to disappoint OR piss off! Life as a Ham
Friday, August 7, 2015. For Independence Day we went out to our friends' house in Sherman (Mel and Nikki, who run my soccer team). There was barbecue, beer, snowcones, a huge blow up water slide, and all the goats you could ever want to play with. There isn't much more to it except for the pictures. Adam spent most of the time bossing everyone around at the water slide while Claire and Colin gave Stephanie a work out at the regular slide as she poured water on it to make it more fun and did all the h...
