Hubert Blog: February 2005

http://www.thehubertblog.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 28, 2005. In the "comments" for my previous post, Maggie makes an excellent point that I hadn't considered. Peeing on shoes is a waste of a good chew, and an infallible sign that my correspondents were cats (the handle "Mr. Kitty" was a pretty good clue, too). To do something, it's harder. Here's what I mean. It's a question of connecting ideas. One idea at a time. If that. And that is why punishment doesn't really work. Posted by Hubert @ 7:24 AM. Thursday, February 24, 2005. Friday, January 28, 2005. Bufford's Report (not yet). I have gotten Bufford's report, finally, but I'm going to hold on to it a bit. It's pretty controversial, and I know it's going to raise hackles. As I'm still recovering from the nettles-around-the-groin problem, I don't feel like a big political fight. I will, however, reply to some email I got. This is really in the "Ask Hubert" vein. I do love my buddies, but they can do some odd stuff. How do you keep them from bringing lots of strangers over?

M1ek's Bake-Sale of Bile. The Personal and Political Ramblings of one guy in Texas. Thursday, June 23, 2005. The Text of a Letter to Senators Cornyn and Hutchison. I am writing today to express my outrage over two different events. The first is the proposed amendment that would give Congress the power to prohibit "desecration" of the American flag. Has there really been such an epidemic of this kind of crime that merits the changing of the very foundation of our laws? If you feel the need to create a Con...

Cahill came to most people's attention a few years ago with his book "How the Irish Saved Civilization". However, that was just one of a serious of books he is writing called "the Hinges of History". M1ek's Bake-Sale of Bile. The Personal and Political Ramblings of one guy in Texas. Wednesday, August 03, 2005. Sorta-Not-Quite Review: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Let's see if this works this time. Last time I tried typing up my thoughts on the latest Potter, a freakish bolt of lightning caused a power flicker that zapped my document, despite the fact I was certain I'd already hit the save button a time or two. Okay I suppose I'll start with dislikes, since one has to start somewhere. I was ...

M1ek's Bake-Sale of Bile. The Personal and Political Ramblings of one guy in Texas. Thursday, August 26, 2004. Shocked to Find that Politics is Going On Here! It's sort of funny to see M! Go all Inspector Renault on me in the comments to my post. On Kerry's Vietnam troubles. Granted, my examples were not perhaps the best in the world (the Moore one in particular), but anyone willing to trot over to FactCheck.Org. Can find plenty on both sides. M1ek's Bake-Sale of Bile. The Personal and Political Ramblings of one guy in Texas. Tuesday, May 10, 2005. Diversity in the 'Burbs? It's a common trope that suburbs tend to be lily-white bastions of cultural anomie. I've tended to suspect that these sorts of tropes came from people who had never lived in suburbs but had heard about them, or were misfits there. But one can be a misfit anywhere. Anyway. But Still. There it is. Posted by: Jim / 9:49 AM. Tuesday, May 03, 2005. Sure enough, a close look at Pr...

M1ek's Bake-Sale of Bile. The Personal and Political Ramblings of one guy in Texas. Tuesday, December 07, 2004. Its Over. Time to Move to the Next Fight. I have been sort-of following with a certain fascination the sites that keep up the myth of the stolen election. They point to this statistical study, or that. One, or point to a conspiracy theory. That at bottom says that, having gotten these computer programmers to write code to steal votes, the nefarious plotters are now refusing to pay.

It was funny to me to be thinking of how to write this review and then stumbling across none other than National Review Online's. Resident troglodyte, John Derbyshire, delivering. M1ek's Bake-Sale of Bile. The Personal and Political Ramblings of one guy in Texas. Monday, October 25, 2004. It's One Week till The Election. And I got nothin'. Tight races pulling in a lot of dollars. Perhaps the fact I've long since decided I don't have a dog in this fight (well, not one I'm all that enthused about, anyway) has made me ignore things. We did get some very cute pictures though. Enjoy! Look at me. I am one year old! Look closely, you can see my teeth. Getting her Grover from Uncle Bob. My baby girl is 1!
