Autumn Leaf Farm

August 9, 2015. The first of August. He begins to let his body slump into mine as we walk. The warmth of our body's tucked closely together, it's sweaty. It's good. Not quite asleep yet, he grabs for leaves on the trees we pass. I pause and let him touch and feel them. We follow the warn tractor paths. Paths used for decades and decades to cut the hay, to gather firewood, to reach the woods. As we enter the woods, the humidity is cut back with the cool forest floor beneath us and tree canopy shading us.

Autumn Leaf Farm: May 2015

http://www.thehuckinshome.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

May 10, 2015. Her heart, My heart. I'd ask how long until it became a beautiful butterfly. She'd say, when it was ready, there was no rushing it. As he grows i see more and more of my mother coming out of me, while also becoming my very own mother. I feel what he feels, love what he loves. So, on my first mother's day, I'm going to share my thoughts, my photographs, my heart. I had to do it when i was ready, there is no rushing the beauty of this life. Happy mothers day, mama. Sunday, May 10, 2015. Enjoy...

Autumn Leaf Farm: November 2014

http://www.thehuckinshome.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

November 26, 2014. Grateful on Thanksgiving Eve. He sleeps the best up against our chests. He looks at us with inquisitive eyes, reaching deep into our thoughts. He snuggles up against us in the early morning hours, taking over our whole bed. His little 6 pound body at birth has grown and continues to fill out, I'm guessing close to 9 pounds now. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and we are looking forward to a nice quiet day, just the 4 of us. This year, this season, this Thanksgiving we are so. November 20, 2014.

March 15, 2015. Baby Goods : Micro Fashion. It's no secret, baby clothes are my weakness. As soon as i was pregnant (ok, maybe before), i began stocking up on my favorites, that I've had my eye on for months. I love dressing my little guy in comfortable yet snazzy clothes. Here are some of my absolute favorites at 5 months in:. GEO - by dig. I began reading Nici's blog. Another Zulily find. Such soft and sweet bodysuits. I loved this one. It was a bit lighter weight than i would have thought,...The brand...

Autumn Leaf Farm: July 2015

http://www.thehuckinshome.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

July 30, 2015. A day in the Life : 9 Months. I tip-toe out into the bright morning light flooding my kitchen. My eyes adjusting to the light as i turn on the coffee maker and find my daily choice. I let charlie out and realize the weather shifted from a thick humidity to a nice cool, breathable air. I begin to open up the windows and turn off the air conditioners, letting the fresh moist air fill the house. Today was a day that i took off of work (my day job) and stayed home with my munchkin. Charlie's n...

still the flowers grow: April!!

http://stilltheflowersgrow.blogspot.com/2015/07/april.html

Still the flowers grow. Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Gearing up for baseball season! Wearing one of Joseph’s sweatshirts and boots, plus the pink leggings.  Kills me. Just after holding his hand up in victory.  I never seem to be able to get the right timing to document that. Coach consulting.  This was a good day for Joseph and I think having the coach- who is AWESOME in such a calm but fun, respectful and hardworking way—on his mat really helped Joseph. . Then we colored eggs and made a bigggggg mess.

Better now then never though! 160; Also, again, it’s a birth story, so expect some yuckyness. And it’s me, so lots of detail shouldn’t surprise you.  To me these moments are incredibly precious and my primary aim in recording them is preserve as much of the memory as possible for me and my family. Here is Part 1. And to get out of there. . I was close...

Still the flowers grow. Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Joseph’s Spongebob Bday Party. Obviously, I am very tardy in posting this.  I don’t know how all you super on-time bloggers do it! 160; I wont spend a lot of money on crappy prepackaged stuff, but I’ll give it a shot.  (I still like to think I’ll be able to avoid all the princess-ish stuff with Nora, but see that it’s just as likely I’ll eat those words too). To let go of the perfect idea I had in my head, but really ended up working out well! 160; (Last ye...

Still the flowers grow. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. End of 2014; beginning of 2015. 160; He didn’t ski at all last year because we were so busy with hockey.  This year hear I convinced him not to do hockey again by saying he could ski or skate, but not both. He really seems to enjoy skiing a lot.  It was incredible freezing most of the times he skied though, so not many pictures. A little skating adventure too.  (These are all out of order…). A little excursion on to frozen Fern Lake at our camp. Here she i...

Still the flowers grow. Friday, February 13, 2015. Early December-Santa Arrives, Tree decorating, First Sledding…. Cutie patatoi, starting to show interest in books (though upside down). Trying to be just like brother! Dragging her up the hill. Awww  Brad’s dressed like a hobbo, but they are still all super cute. Santa comes to Middlebury. Train exhibit at Sheldon Museum. Waiting to visit Santa—the girls (we ditched Nora with Grandma for all this excitement). And the boys—thanks Tanner. Trying to do right.

Still the flowers grow. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. All dressed up for his holiday concert! 160; He actually picked all this out himself and I just can’t believe it.  Such a sign of growing up.  Every holiday concert previously I have had to fight with him and force him to get dressed up.  This time he seemed to like getting fancy! 160; How things change. First and second grade performing. . Nora in her outfit the GG (great-grandma) picked out for her in Philly.  Still one of our favorite outfits! She was...

Harvesting Hope: A life worth remembering. Dec 7, 2014. As an artist, it tortured me. This past year, Donny and I worked through a lot of heavy stuff. In the years leading up to our move, we were going in fast motion, and we didn’t take the time we needed to nurture our marriage. After years of continually feeling exhausted and unfulfilled, we got fed up, sold our home and all of our belongings. Looking for a place that felt like home, then put down roots on a farm in Washington state. We’d tiptoe in the...

Still the flowers grow. Thursday, October 30, 2014. 160; And she is smiling because she has two phones—score! Trying to pose a picture is HARD.  But wearing a sweater I knitted for Joseph, my very first knitting project. Open house at the OMYA quarry. . Joseph gets so into it. And we found cousin Louis. Yup, driving with a phone—total heaven for Nora. Not safe Nora, not safe. We grew awesome melons this year. Super easy and yummy. A total lark that worked out. Night before the first frost. 160; We bought...

But we also want to make sure that Cass is excited and has her own nice space. As we all consolidate space, Cass chose to make her playroom her new bedroom. It took her a few weeks to decide, but in the end she went for the bigger space which let's her keep more stuff! Nice call, Bug. :). Posted by Steph and Sam. As we d...

Just a Closer walk with Thee

Friday, November 16, 2012. Holston's 2nd Birthday on the Farm. My baby boy is TWO! It can't be possible! We've had a fun time celebrating his second year! We had his birthday party the weekend before his birthday (on the following Thursday). And on his actual birthday he got to open a couple more gifts I saved - and then we also had a little mini party at his daycare! I took cupcakes to his class after nap time and we all sang Happy Birthday! I think he's had a great time celebrating his special day!
