Monday, February 14, 2011. Just tried out a new recipe without almond extract so I could bring the cookies to school for Valentine's Day and I loved how the Martha Stewart one turned out! Very buttery and yummy. 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter (I actually use salted, because I hate buying two kinds of butter). 2 large egg yolks. 3 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour. 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract. After I did my copying for Sophie's class, I was lucky enough to catch Isabel's class performance of The Night Before Christmas for all the kindergartners. It was so impressed.everyone knew all their parts perfectly. Poor pickle got fixed this week. I love how much she loves to read and play Scrabble.

It was cloudy off and on most of the day, but the kids never seem to mind. And actually, Keri and I prefer it that way. It was definitely a bucket and big hole digging kind of day. Thursday, May 20, 2010. The weather in Palm Springs was just perfect for hanging out and lounging by the pool. Somehow we managed to heat the pool like a jacuzzi, so it wasn't refreshing. After the initial shock, it felt kinda good and there was no rush to get out. And the cabana provided some much needed shade for Eli, so no one was left out of the outdoor festivities. Picky Eater | The Rice Family

Saturday, March 12, 2011. Asher started out eating everything. fish, lamb, veggies, fruit, etc. but around 2, he suddenly became this picky eater and has limited himself to what feels like nothing. I'm just praying that Eviana doesn't do the same. The other day, she ate a whole bowl of Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she won't fall prey to this issue. So what does Asher eat? Cheese and Broccoli "Fondue". ABC Sandwiches (Apples, Bread and Cheese). Four Rices (Dec. '09).
