The Missionary Memo

Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Divine Red Lights (and what to do when you're stuck at one). 160;                                                         © Lidian Neeleman. Even a small child knows that a red light means to stop. But what does the word stop. It seems to be such a simple word, but the word stop. Actually has two inferences that are  quite different from each other. On one hand, the word stop. On the other hand, if a father saw his son about to run into the road, he may yell, Stop! Light as a stop.

The Missionary Memo: The Longest Ladder

http://themissionarymemo.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-longest-ladder.html

Monday, February 25, 2013. Image courtesy of Nattavut / FreeDigitalPhotos.net. Harry, Gary, and Larry were walking through the woods one night on the way to their favorite fishing spot. Suddenly they stumbled upon an old, abandoned mine shaft, and all three of the friends fell through the rotten wood and crashed to the bottom. Having managed to survive the fall with just some bumps and bruises, they were soon peering up at the small window of light above them. 8220;Oh, great! 8221; groaned Gary. He would...

The Missionary Memo: A Brief History Of Turkeys In Cambodia

http://themissionarymemo.blogspot.com/2013/11/a-brief-history-of-turkeys-in-cambodia.html

Wednesday, November 27, 2013. A Brief History Of Turkeys In Cambodia. Image courtesy of papaija2008 at FreeDigitalPhotos.net. Such a miscarriage of literary justice! But old habits die hard, so "foreigner chicken" it remained. One day I was driving in a semi-rural area across the river from our church and as I drove by an empty field, I did a double-take. There were about a dozen decent-sized turkeys running around in that field! That little red dangly thing on it's head looks really gross! His words&#46...

The Missionary Memo: Farmer Fred and the Three Visitors

http://themissionarymemo.blogspot.com/2011/06/farmer-fred-and-three-visitors.html

Saturday, June 25, 2011. Farmer Fred and the Three Visitors. One day a man dropped in for a visit with Farmer Fred. The visitor smiled real big, extended his hand, and said jovially, "I'm Big Bob". Then after a few moments of casual conversation, he got right to the point. Farmer Fred," he said, "I admire your work, but it just seems so small! So what'd you do next? Like I said before, my reach and influence is so much broader now that I have traded in my one farm for this multi-state approach. I fee...

Becky and Mike and Our Six Little Tykes. Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Friend Day at the Farrell House. I had 11 kids at my house that day and it was soooo nice. The kids each played with their friend and there was no arguing or fighting. They played in their rooms, played games, played the Wii, went outside, and had lunch. It was a great day! I am putting a picture of each of the kids and their friend. Megan and her friend Kayla. Austin and his friend Noah. Emily and her friend Sarai. Posted by Becky Farrell.

Rachel's Reflections: September 2013

Sunday, September 29, 2013. Sunday, September 22, 2013. The week before school started we had a Back to School. Party Since we had been in school all summer and only took a one week summer break, a party was just what the kids needed to get excited about another year. The Smith family drove out to Johvi and joined us as we celebrated the start of a new school year. There were lots of special treats for each student:. Have a great year, smartie pants. Attached to a package of smarties, of course). Besides...

Rachel's Reflections: May 2014

http://winklerfamilyupdate.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 26, 2014. Can I tell you a secret? Missionaries are human, just like you. We face frustrations, trials, disappointments, and discouragement too. Life is not a "bed of roses" just because we have answered God's call to take the gospel to a foreign field. Missionaries also need encouragement! Isn't God just so good - all the time? I'm also thankful for people that let God use them when He speaks to their heart. Another blessing is that this building was full of office furniture - desks, bookshe...

Rachel's Reflections: September 2014

http://winklerfamilyupdate.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 25, 2014. Tour our home boys' room. So, lets head in. The wall to the left of the window (behind the bookshelf and closet) is the one that was added. Since there were two windows in this room, it worked out nicely for each room to still have a window once it was divided. I made the curtains from the bedskirt that came with the boys' bedding. I'm a little puzzled why this bedding had a "skirt" with it, but it was nice to have the material for curtains. Wednesday, September 24, 2014.

Rachel's Reflections: June 2014

http://winklerfamilyupdate.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 1, 2014. In 1999 I became a mother. Just 15 months later, Daniel met his new little brother, Andrew. (We also have two more children that I love dearly, but this post is about my oldest boys.) Being a mom was a dream come true! My days were filled with keeping my boys fed, changing diapers, wiping runny noses, kissing chubby cheeks, and all the other tasks that come with being a wife and mommy. Brothers - (November 2000). Rachel's Reflections: October 2014

http://winklerfamilyupdate.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Another school year is underway! Each year my kids are good sports as I take their back to school. Our room is bright and cheery. I'm thinking.hoping it will keep our spirits up during the long, dark winter days. I love my big desk that was already in the building when we started renting it. It gives me lots of room to spread out as I score papers and test. Some days it just doesn't matter how pretty the school room is, I have to pull out my survival kit! Scripture and a Song.

The Missionary Kid

Friday, August 12, 2011. The actual days of bikeweek are going by so quickly now! It seems like an unending pattern of waking up, setting up, taking pictures, preparing the show, completing the show and tearing down. This year, I have really enjoyed being with everyone after the workday at dinner. It has been a lot of fun getting to know people better and then working with them the next day. But I have had a good time and look forward to what is left. Thursday, August 11, 2011. Monday, August 8, 2011.

A man has joy in an apt answer, and how delightful is a timely word! Our future before our eyes. Hear that swirling, sucking sound? 160; Yeah, that's us, California.  Here are some salient points from a  very sobering article. It took years for liberalism's redistributive itch to create an income tax so steeply progressive that it prompts the flight from the state of wealth-creators: "Between 1990 and 2007," Voegeli writes, "some 3.4 million more Americans moved from. California from another state.".

Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Today I found out I could no longer load pictures on my blog unless I decide to pay for more storage or some other such nonsense. The Missionary Life of Amy

Friday, April 4, 2014. The sun was setting during an extremely cloudy evening - I loved seeing it peek through the holes and shine through on the ocean! To the left of the sunset was a storm on the ocean - so cool! Feeding - 1 April. This week's feeding went very well - and we had a great group even though it was school holidays. It was wonderful to have more chairs - the kids were thrilled! Someone took a picture of me - here we are singing a song. My story visual is between my knees. I do love sunsets!

The Missionary Mom - The story of my Christ-centered life

The story of my Christ-centered life. Is there proof that the Bible is true? August 14, 2015. The reason I’m writing this post is to encourage women who are already Christians, but may be wavering in their faith. Many Christians I’ve met get uncomfortable having their beliefs challenged because they don’t have responses for common questions in today’s world. Not me. I am not intimidated when people challenge…. Authenticity of the Bible. The Bible is true. The resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Word of God.

The Missionary Mum

Thursday, October 16. Going Through the Motions. For the last month or so I feel like we have all just been going through the motions in many respects. Sometimes, it was a case of just getting through the day, shower, morning school run, food, packing, food, afternoon school run, packing, food, bed. Automatic pilot kicked in and the essentials were done. Familiarity in the mundane daily routines was almost comforting and the limit of what any of us could deal with. At other times, knowing that we would b...
