The Musings of a Wandering Spirit: June 2009

http://themusingsofawanderingspirit.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

The Musings of a Wandering Spirit. Random thoughts, links to goodies I've found, and a general log of the stuff that makes me, me. Thursday, June 18, 2009. One of my goals this summer is to read as much as I can, and to read a wide variety of stuff- both the fluffy and the classics. Right before summer started I finished. Which is a fantastic, light read by the way. Now I'm working on an American classic (at least I'd like to think it is). Gone with the Wind. The Sweet Potato Queens. House of Sand and Fog.

The Musings of a Wandering Spirit. Random thoughts, links to goodies I've found, and a general log of the stuff that makes me, me. Monday, May 25, 2009. So on today May 25, 2009, I'd like to take a moment to pay tribute to the 9 who died in the tornado, the folks who survived it, and all of the folks who were there to put the pieces back together. Here's a second video that helps capture what went on in Parkersburg today. Links to this post. Sunday, May 17, 2009. I hope you have a perfect day. :). Musing...

The Musings of a Wandering Spirit. Random thoughts, links to goodies I've found, and a general log of the stuff that makes me, me. Sunday, April 26, 2009. I'm not quite sure what the new chapter put in my egg sandwich this morning, but I feel like I'm bursting with energy and inspiration today. And, given this past week has been kind of tricky for me, and I'd prefer not to repeat some of my mistakes, I'm going to "take a post" to show what I've learned, or in some cases re-learned. The Musings of a Wandering Spirit: March 2009

http://themusingsofawanderingspirit.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

The Musings of a Wandering Spirit. Random thoughts, links to goodies I've found, and a general log of the stuff that makes me, me. Sunday, March 29, 2009. I deemed yesterday a "take it easy" day. This is code for: I watched a ton of movies, napped, and surfed the web. In the process I found two films that are fantastic. Both are a bit dark but address important issues- immigration and the history of women's suffrage. The two films were pleasant surprises from my local video store's independent. You know,...

Teacher and Learner: December 2008

http://teacherandlearner1.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 11, 2008. I have been very busy lately because a number of the programs that I coordinate at school are overlapping. I am finding over the past few days that I have to deal with a lot of people and am finding that no one seems to be concerned if anyone else is having a good time. Let’s just say that this is. The payoff. We are living it today. What ever happens today is just such a gift that I am having a great time. Links to this post. Tuesday, December 9, 2008. What are these rules?

Teacher and Learner: Twitter, Tweets, and a Snow Day

http://teacherandlearner1.blogspot.com/2009/03/twitter-tweets-and-snow-day.html

Monday, March 2, 2009. Twitter, Tweets, and a Snow Day. Well, I’ve done it. I’ve jumped into Twitter. I will go on record as saying that I did not do it because a bunch of politicians could not sit still during the President’s speech last week and began to tweet all over the place. I did it because it seems that those in education who want to remain connected seem to be doing it. Which brings me to my fear. Do we always have to be connected in so overt a way? You connect with by-gone souls through litera...

Teacher and Learner: Of Legacy and Forests

http://teacherandlearner1.blogspot.com/2009/03/of-legacy-and-forests.html

Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Of Legacy and Forests. The infield of the track, which alternated as a football and soccer field when I went to the school, was completely covered with trees; a forest had reclaimed this territory! Those who were impacted by being in this place. I enjoyed your post this morning, and as I prepared to write something for my blog this evening, I remembered it. I mixed in a recent discovery of mine: the smell of the remnants of an orange grove. March 18, 2009 at 11:26 PM. Assignmen...

Teacher and Learner: James Baldwin and Me

http://teacherandlearner1.blogspot.com/2009/02/james-baldwin-and-me.html

Thursday, February 26, 2009. James Baldwin and Me. He was once asked why there was so much time between his novels and his reply was, "That's the kind of writer that I am.". I find comfort in that response, if others do not. I find it necessary to periodically head for the desert, to listen, to observe the not-so-obvious, what William Least Heat Moon once wrote about in an essay called, "A List of Nothing in Particular." I come back a new man, energized and willing to speak once again. God bless you,.

Just Past the Horizon

Just Past the Horizon. Filed Under : China. Saturday, July 28, 2012. As you get older, it is harder to have heroes, but it is sort of necessary.”. That's got to be boring. My first real exposure to the Olympics came when I was in college. One night, my friends and I were sitting around in our dorm room. It was late, and there was nothing to do, so we were flipping through TV channels, trying to find something to watch. As we roamed through the channels, we flipped by the Winter Olympics. The Inside Poop

You want to know what is going on in my brain? Friday, July 20, 2012. So many lives were forever affected early this morning in Colorado. One man’s evil, senseless act of violence has forever changed the lives of those that survived and those who lost loved ones. We become immune, I am afraid, to the plight of the world, to the reality of the world we live in, when it is not in our own backyard. Posted by Bryan H. Thursday, March 8, 2012. The Musings of Bookworms. Wednesday, May 25, 2016. I have far too much yarn stored up in my room. It's starting to overflow the bucket I have for it. I stress crochet and I've been more than a little stressed lately, what with figuring out living situations and one of my friends moving home and just general frustrations at work. Oh, and I broke my little toe not too long ago. It helped that I was procrastinating something else. I had another project I was working on and I misplaced my crochet hook fo...
