A Girl Named Sam: Lab Rat
http://girlnamedsam.blogspot.com/2013/03/lab-rat.html
A Girl Named Sam. Before Winston was born, a friend alerted me to a study that KU was conducting. The study is following breastfeeding women to see if high doses of DHA prevent bone loss due to lactation. I qualified for the study and set everything up with the researchers before Winston was born. Then I went back in a few weeks later to get my pills. I'm pretty sure I'm not in the placebo group. How do I know? Like any good engineer, I wanted to know what was in the capsule. And unless they are goin...

A Girl Named Sam: February 2013
http://girlnamedsam.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
A Girl Named Sam. While doing laundry not too long ago, I realized that my new breastfeeding boobs had completely destroyed the elastic on several of my old sports bras. During my runs, I started to notice that even doubling up wasn't doing the trick any more. So I decided it was time to upgrade to some seriously heavy-duty sports bras so I could once again run in comfort. Man, was I shocked at the price of a high quality sports bra. I used the sports bra guide in the Title 9. This bras was advertised as...

A Girl Named Sam: July 2012
http://girlnamedsam.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
A Girl Named Sam. NT Screening, Take 2. The only good thing about my first appointment was that the specialist wasn't very concerned. John and I decided if she wasn't worried, we weren't going to worry. At least not obsessively. I had told my bosses at work so they were aware of why I was missing work on a weekly basis and we got the neighborhood under control. Now it was a waiting game. 13 weeks, just chillin'. High five, dude! Recommend any invasive testing. (Whew! I almost started to cry again, this t...

A Girl Named Sam: Time flies
http://girlnamedsam.blogspot.com/2013/06/time-flies.html
A Girl Named Sam. When you're having fun. Jeesh, it's been a while. At the campground we stayed at in Denali National Park. Hmm, where do I begin? Winston is almost 8 months old, which is hard to believe. We were recently in Alaska for John's work. The kiddo did great, but I won't be flying with him again any time soon. Life lesson: Don't sign up for any races while you're pregnant. Someone please remind me of this if/when #2 is on the way. July 21, 2013 at 9:05 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Girl Named Sam: September 2012
http://girlnamedsam.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
A Girl Named Sam. We're now about 6 weeks from Optimus Prime's due date, and even though we don't have a crib or the baby's room 100% ready, we have been doing some baby preparations. 65279; A few weeks ago, John was out of town all week. Our neighbors gave us a very nice Ergo. He was a pretty good sport. And then he got squirmy. 65279;. I don't think John would make a very good pregnant lady. Looks good in the living room and Nera approves. Nera hasn't moved much from the chair all day. Apparent...

A Girl Named Sam: Progress?
http://girlnamedsam.blogspot.com/2013/01/progress.html
A Girl Named Sam. This last weekend, I ran 5 miles. It wasn't pretty. It wasn't easy. But it's progress nonetheless. I've got to be honest, I'm not very happy with my current physical state. I keep trying to tell myself to lighten up but it's hard and humbling when I'm reminded exactly how much I can't do every time I go out. I'm a little nervous for the 1/2 marathon in April. I have two and a half months to work my way up to 13 miles and it's going to take a while. We won't discuss the 70.3.

A Girl Named Sam: Elimination Diet - Week 1
http://girlnamedsam.blogspot.com/2013/04/elimination-diet-week-1.html
A Girl Named Sam. Elimination Diet - Week 1. Week 1 of my Elimination Diet ended with the Rock the Parkway 1/2marathon on Saturday. The race and my registration debacle deserve a separate post but the nutrition aspect is important. Actually, what's important is that I didn't have any GI issues. One of us was much more serious about this race than the other. Glad to have stumbled upon your blog! I was wondering if you feature guest postings. Thanks and have a great day! The race and my registration debacle deserve a separate post but the nutrition aspect is important. Actually, what's important is that I didn't have any GI issues. One of us was much more serious about this race than the other. Next week is Rock the Parkway and I'm not as prepared as I'd like. Big surprise. We've had a rough month, sleep wise, which has left me chron...I'm g...
