The Parsimonious Chef

Frugal with everything but taste. Sunday, January 23, 2011. I haven't been posting lately because I've been making tried-and-true recipes the last few weeks that I've ever already posted here or are so boring, they're really not worth sharing with the world. (Example: roasting broccoli in the oven. Delicious, but do we really need a recipe for that? Here's a super fantastic, low fat, healthy and delicious black bean soup. Quite economical, too. 1 lb black beans. 1/8 tsp baking soda. 2 tsp olive oil.

Frugal with everything but taste. Monday, October 25, 2010. Turkey Chili with Zucchini and Bell Pepper. I read Real Housewives star Bethenney Frankel's Naturally Thin. Makes about 8 servings). 1 1/4 cup Great Northern beans, soaked over night and rinsed (about 1/2 lb, could use even more if you love beans like I do). 6 cups water or chicken or beef stock (I used 2 cups water and 2 packets of Herb's Ox beef broth seasoning). 2 strips bacon, diced. 1 onion, finely diced. Add 5 cups ...

The Parsimonious Chef: July 2008

http://theparsimoniouschef.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Frugal with everything but taste. Sunday, July 27, 2008. I was struck with a desire to do something this week that had mozzarella in it. So I did a little research and came upon this recipe for a Mediterranean Orzo Salad with mozzarella, cannellini beans, and all sorts of other good-for-you components, tossed together with a lovely dressing. I had to restrain myself from devouring the entire bowl so that I'd have enough for 4 servings to take to lunch this week. Makes 4 - 5 servings). 1/4 cup lemon juice.

Monday, February 9, 2015. My Homemade Cleaner Trifecta. If you've followed this blog for a while, you likely know that I derive more satisfaction and joy from homemade cleaning concoction than a person probably should, even though I'm not a clean freak. I think my love of homemade cleaners is found in the principle of them. To be honest, I don't know if it's the frugal or au naturale. Part of me that enjoys the idea of homemade cleaning solutions more. Homemade vs. Pre-Made. Friday, January 30, 2015.
