The Race is on….will they, won’t they? – the part-time passionate gardener

https://theparttimepassionategardener.wordpress.com/2015/09/28/the-race-is-on-will-they-wont-they

The part-time passionate gardener. Gardening in a most haphazard way…. How on earth did I get where I am today? The Race is on….will they, won’t they? September 28, 2015. This year has been an odd one. By that, I mainly mean the weather. The summer was a non-starter really, despite the usual Express headlines of impending doom and gloom, (do they follow world news at all? Most of the summer it was dry here down in dear old Dorset, not particularly warm…but…well, just dry. The Cosmos are taller and strong...

The part-time passionate gardener. Gardening in a most haphazard way…. How on earth did I get where I am today? Oh for the life of me…what’s it called? October 1, 2015. October 1, 2015. Now, I don’t know about you, but I have an atrocious memory, ( him indoors is often heard muttering “. Memory of a gnat. 8221;) and this is an attribute which can make horticulture in my domain a fairly interesting challenge. Seed sowing, potting on and plant propagation always starts off as a well organised event. I have...

The part-time passionate gardener. Gardening in a most haphazard way…. How on earth did I get where I am today? It do be time to gathers in ze ‘arvest…. October 8, 2015. I guess I just have to finally admit it…summer is slowly winding down. But on the positive side, it’s the time of year when I can be found bimbling around my green patch armed with a short stick and a stock of tatty old envelopes. What am I up to? Why, gathering in the natures bountiful harvest in the form of seeds of course! This ever e...

The part-time passionate gardener. Gardening in a most haphazard way…. How on earth did I get where I am today? The End is Nigh……but there’s always Salvias. September 20, 2015. September 21, 2015. I absolutely, with a real vengeance, hate the end of summer! So…yep, you might have guessed it, I really do hate the end of summer! Saying that, here down on the South coast in balmy old Dorset, we at least manage to prolong our summers by a few weeks. Not surprisingly, the Salvias. I enjoy a challenge. One of ...

Well, I really can’t believe my luck. It’s nearly Bonfire night, which by rights should be thick woolly hats and scarves and steaming breath in the cold night air, but still our wonderful weather holds fair. In fact they’re not even. 8216;just hanging,’. They’re positively flying…. Then there’s the old Osteospermums. Complete wi...

Weymouth reflections…musings of a wrinkly Weymoutharian! Weymouth past and present. November 23, 2013. September 5, 2015. Why Weymouth and me? I already run a blog dedicated to the Victorian period of the Weymouth’s history, entering into the lives of the folks who lived here, those who visited to partake the in healthy waters, or who simply arrived to work here. I was born, raised and apart from a couple of brief periods of my life, have lived right here in sunny old Weymouth. Over us, wall to wall traf...

Weymouth reflections…musings of a wrinkly Weymoutharian! Weymouth past and present. July 26, 2015. July 26, 2015. Fickle Weymouth weather….who bloomin’ nicked summer? I sit here shivering in a thick woolly and fluffy slippers in front of my computer on a cold, wet, windy, dark and dismal day. Just where did summer go? I’d even go as far to say that it was verging on tropical! The beach was heaving, it seems the whole of Weymouth and those brave early seasons visitors had all decamped to the sands. 8230;t...

Weymouth reflections…musings of a wrinkly Weymoutharian! Weymouth past and present. August 15, 2015. August 15, 2015. An evening in Ringstead. Even though it’s virtually on our doorstep, I haven’t been to Ringstead since my kids were tiny! I had vague memories of what it was like, so one beautiful evening last springtime I suggested to my other half that we should go and take a nice drive out to revisit this spot. There is now a designated car park, and the usual charges to pay. This is also where the fa...

Some time ago I came across someone selling sets of negatives on an auction site, mostly based around Weymouth, I snapped up as many as I could afford. I haven’t the foggiest of dates either as none of them were marked, but guessing possibly they were from the 70’s or 80’s. 8230;most of course, despite much flap...

Working less, living creatively. Shift perspective with the release of 100 items. I gave myself an unusual Valentine's present this year.and it was not what I thought it was going to be. So, I decided to pretend move. What would I take with me and what would I let go of if I were to move? Or that that my friend would be willing to take my dying orchid to her home to revive? As both little and big items left the premises, I felt the small, but palpable joy of checking off items off a list. It was arou...
