I just wanted some cool headgear! January 11, 2012 · Filed under The beginning. 183 Tagged first day. What does every postman need? I suppose that they are a prerequisite for successful completion of the universally shared goal of not getting locked up, or worse still laughed at, so let me rephrase, or rather re-answer the question. What does every postman need? Red and/or blue clothes. And I didn’t have any. I just wanted some cool headgear. Where was my Grade 3 Stormproof coat? It was a sub-tropical Se...

When I applied for the job in July 2011 I had just returned from holiday an...

Beware of the Dog. January 16, 2012 · Filed under Dogs. 183 Tagged dangerous dogs. I could write a book on this. When first asked the question ‘have you been attacked by any dogs yet? If only you knew what I did for a living. I had caught myself mid-silent boast, pleased that I had one up over a two month old puppy. Now let’s take a step back and see how blood got so bad between us. And about thirty metres away. Hey, you and me, we can co-exist peacefully. And this all leaves me strangely optimistic.

The part time perfectionist. Adventures of a potentially perfect person. Monday, 1 December 2014. You Will Not Believe What I Did With My Firewood in 10 Minutes Flat! Every house has one. A grim looking pile of scrappy waste wood waiting to be thrown on the fire. Full of spiders and bugs and other horrid things I really don't want to think about. I have to tell you, I was pretty pleased with the results! This is the before and after: IT IS SO EASY! 1 A chunk of wood, that is reasonably flat and dry.
