The Scrappy Appleyard

Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Summer in the South. Lots of Planning going on. Loving' the Summer down here in the South! And it's been a cool one at that! I've been going down to the River Walk and Marina. Quite a bit with my Planner, Journals, Journaling Supplies,. Love this little cart I found at a garage sale for $2! It goes to the Farmer's Market with me every Saturday morning. And it hauls my stuff down to the river's edge as well! Some fabrics I found to make a simple patchwork quilt for my kitchen!

The Scrappy Appleyard: Hexagon Tutorial with PLASTIC TEMPLATES

http://thescrappyappleyard.blogspot.com/2010/11/hexagon-tutorial-with-plastic-templates.html

Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Hexagon Tutorial with PLASTIC TEMPLATES. Finally.my 'Hexagon' tutorial. Everyone has been asking for. I do a lot of my sewing in the car while traveling. So I rough cut my pieces out while in the car as well. I cut the templates 3/8" larger all the way around the template. Most people tell you to cut them 1/4" larger. But with the plastic templates. If they are cut out like that and are not dead on center. The templates will start to pop out. Where it isn't quite a 1/4" seam.

The Quilting Post: A Friday Night Sew In

http://quiltingpost.blogspot.com/2012/06/friday-night-sew-in.html

Quilt Blocks in Glass. Saturday, June 16, 2012. A Friday Night Sew In. Another good time at FNSI. Thanks to Heidi and her cousin Bobbi for hosting the monthly event. It was time to resupply mug rugs for the market, so I had fun playing with some more frog fabric last night. Just love to pair them up with the glass bead frogs that I made for the little spoons. I cut several more to sew up later,. And sewed together batting scraps for more mug rugs. Then I added a few more blocks to my WIP String Quilt.

The Quilting Post: March 2015

http://quiltingpost.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Quilt Blocks in Glass. Tuesday, March 3, 2015. I began this quilt over a year ago using a pattern called " Bella Babushka. Completing other projects in between, I finished this one the last day of February 2015. You can see the beginnings and progress of my piecing in a post HERE. Quilt backings of 108-inches wide make for shorter work. Love not having to piece it! And added an extra row of dolls along with another row of squares. My friend Alice and I long-armed this one, during the short-lived ice storm.

And it's true inspiration for bead designs is all around and usually all I need to do is look at creation, but sometimes I still get in a creative slump. The Quilting Post: January 2015

http://quiltingpost.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Quilt Blocks in Glass. Friday, January 2, 2015. During most of December, every day I had Pandora playing one of the Christmas stations of choice. I enjoy the carols and the classics, but one song in particular intrigued me: It was an orchestral instrumental with a hauntingly sweet melody. I wondered what it was but never caught the title, and snippets of the tune would play in my head day after day. In the Bleak Midwinter. Frosty wind did moan. Earth stood hard as iron. Water like a stone. Long, long ago.

Friday, October 19, 2012. Its done. However the actual glow of it is not captured in the pic. Just as I wanted your eye focuses on the stars and the rest helps it float on the quilt. Have been considering doing another as a 9-patch of stars in much subtler tones. Actually much quieter tones. There is just something about this star that just makes me happy. This is what I came up with for Wind Storm blocks. Started this foray into improv. It will go slowly. As I make elements when the mood strikes. The.

Saturday, November 12, 2011. Of course we had to do a couple of kids crafts with our son too. I bought this little turkey kit at Hobby Lobby for a buck! It was super easy since it was all self-adhesive. We also made a table runner using some old burlap fabric. I cut up some apples to do some stamping. I used a brown marker to add some details to make it look more like apples =). I added a little burlap around the stems to finish them off. I think they're pretty cute! Posted by Julie Hennecke.
