The scrappy bee

http://thescrappybee123.blogspot.com/2012/06/i-was-just-bemoaning-being-stuck-and.html

Sunday, June 17, 2012. OK, I was just bemoaning being stuck and guess what, I now have several things cooking. This is a start of a new improv, wonky quilt. This may not be how it ends up, but it looks good for now. I made long strips by laying a print on top of a solid and just cutting freestyle and sewing. So which is print on solid and which is solid on print? Well, looking at the picture, I am softening. These are pretty complex piecing and I don't to invest the time and then hate them. They ...Final...

The scrappy bee: Winter

http://thescrappybee123.blogspot.com/2012/03/winter.html

Monday, March 5, 2012. This top is from the 20's to 40's. It appears that the quilt maker liked the idea of using a little assymetry or accidentally put them together and didn't realize her "mistake". It makes for an interesting quilt. This is the quilt coming together. I have one more row to complete. The borders will make it seem like the crossed block are floating on the borders. I loved taking the "ordinary" background block and making them so lively. March 5, 2012 at 10:51 AM. Spring is not far off ...

The scrappy bee: Rail Fence Star

http://thescrappybee123.blogspot.com/2012/09/rail-fence-star_29.html

Saturday, September 29, 2012. Several quilters commented on Rail Fence Star. I found it in some patterns from Wallace's Farmer. In the early 1900s there were many publications with Farmer in the title. These were supposed to help bring culture to rural areas. Although they published excerpts from classic literature and fictional stories, they also had a needlecraft column. There was real purpose was to get advertising to those in rural areas. September 29, 2012 at 10:50 AM. What a great job! This block l...

The scrappy bee: What Summer already?

http://thescrappybee123.blogspot.com/2012/05/what-summer-already.html

Sunday, May 27, 2012. This is the finished version of my previous post. It is so lively and looks like the crosses are dancing. And who knew when I bought the bolt end of the red flower fabric that it would be just enough to complete this quilt. It explains why keeping a stash is important. I bought this several years ago and it was the perfect answer for this quilt. My latest quilt started out like this. I was considering using blank. Alternating squares, but when I got a more complete mock up. You are ...

Two's Company Quilt Bee: December 2011

http://twoscompanyquiltbee.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 30, 2011. Here We Go - Mary on Lake Pulaski's January Block. I knew you all. Love both applique and paper piecing so it was hard to choose.but. ETA: 12 1/2 inch block - 12 inch finished block. Pattern is from www.piecebynumber.com. I washed all the fabric I'm sending so don't use anything else (let me know if you need more). I've included the printed pattern on vellum so it's easy to remove. Here are some great paper piecing tutorials:. Mary on Lake Pulaski. Thursday, December 29, 2011.

Two's Company Quilt Bee: May 2012

Saturday, May 19, 2012. May Blocks for LeeAnn. I've been wondering for a while why I had these greens in my stash - now I know! So I could make your blocks for this swap. They are really lime green, not Christmas green that they look in this post. I think this quilt is going to be amazing. Can't wait to see this one proceed. Mary on Lake Pulaski. Sunday, May 13, 2012. HST's in Raspberry and Lime. These were so fun and delicious to make! This is a new color combination for me, and I really love it. HSTs i...

Two's Company Quilt Bee: February 2012

http://twoscompanyquiltbee.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Red Geese for Jackie. Thanks to Jackie's great instructions, these were fun! Bear's Paw for Mary B in March. A little switch from the reds for March! For my block, I'm looking for blues. I think the bear's paw is one of my favorite patterns- something about a big, mean bear translated into a soft, comfy quilt, which, when it's done, you can say is a "bear hug" when it's wrapped around you. The block is a pattern from the terrific 501 Rotary Cut Blocks. Also, March is my mont...

Two's Company Quilt Bee: Peppermint Stick for Andrea

http://twoscompanyquiltbee.blogspot.com/2012/07/peppermint-stick-for-andrea.html

Thursday, July 12, 2012. Peppermint Stick for Andrea. I finished my Peppermint Stick and signature blocks for Andrea while I was on retreat at Gruber's with my prized blogging friends. Not as fun as Amanda Jean's.But I didn't have that many bright, clear reds, surprisingly. I found that I have a tendency more toward the brick reds. So, I found these two great reds at Gruber's. They are on their way to you! LOL But that's just me. Your tutorial was awesome. Once I got the hang of it, I was okay. Peas In A...

Wednesday, September 30, 2009. This summer so my vine did exceptionally well. The leaves are mottled white on green thus the name Variegated Porcelain Vine. A full view of the Variegated Porcelain Vine. I made the copper pipe trellis. Close up of the berries. Although this picture is true to color, you really need to see these incredible berries in real life. Don't you just love the colors of the berries. I want jewelry made from beads in these colors. Keeping in touch with family and friends. Wednesday, October 10, 2012. My latest hand piecing project. Monday, September 27, 2010. Chihuly at Meijer Garden Part Five - Final. After our refreshing lunch we ventured back outside into the heat and humidity. This last part of the tour took us along the boardwalk and the large wetland area. Enjoy the last of the Chihuly exhibit. This is one of three frog statues in the woods along the boardwalk. This is my favorite one with bug on his nose. Hey, a real turtle! The big wetlands with its green algae. Finally we found some great Chihuly art. This part of the Chih...

Saturday, November 12, 2011. Of course we had to do a couple of kids crafts with our son too. I bought this little turkey kit at Hobby Lobby for a buck! It was super easy since it was all self-adhesive. We also made a table runner using some old burlap fabric. I cut up some apples to do some stamping. I used a brown marker to add some details to make it look more like apples =). I added a little burlap around the stems to finish them off. I think they're pretty cute! Posted by Julie Hennecke.
