The Table for One

The Table for One. Who is The Table for One? February 1, 2012. Have I ever mentioned that a classic fall-back meal of mine is to make couscous, some sort of tomato-based sauce, and some sort of protein topping? This is particularly comforting in the winter, when for some reason, I crave foods that have a more porridge-like texture. Lentil tomato sauce with Greek-inspired spices. 1 cup French green lentils, washed and picked through. 1 onion, chopped. 4 cloves garlic, minced. Olive oil for sauteeing.

The Table for One. Who is The Table for One? Newer posts →. Meyer Lemon Custard Cakes. January 19, 2011. Recently I was given a rare gift for a Minnesotan: a bag full of ripe Meyer lemons, grown on the tree – a Meyer lemon tree that lives in sunny California – of an acquaintance of mine. What to do with Meyer lemons? So many options, it turns out! Reliability: that’s a big one when it comes to baking. I’ll skip to the punchline here. The recipe I chose, which came from (GASP! Unfortunately, it was just.

Unequivocally Fall | The Table for One

The Table for One. Who is The Table for One? A Birthday Bash →. October 23, 2011. In the meantime, it’s nearly November. Temperatures are still wavering back and forth, but the air smells decidedly like fall: wood smoke, decomposing leaves, damp earth. Nights are crisp and the light is changing. I couldn’t be happier. Fall is my favorite season of the year. Fall is also my favorite cooking season. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! This slideshow requires JavaScript. 1 tablespoon whole black peppercorns.

Craving spring! | The Table for One

The Table for One. Who is The Table for One? On Food Sourcing →. February 16, 2011. What dinner was supposed to be:. Roasted rosemary chicken, roasted beets, whipped sweet potatoes, quinoa, and dinosaur kale. And what it turned out to be instead:. In other words, I think my body is very clearly telling me that it is anxious for the fresh food, the lightness, and the crunch of spring. This was an incredibly easy salad to make (and I am one who eats far too few salads, for disdain of. Join 26 other followe...

On Food Sourcing | The Table for One

https://thetableforone.wordpress.com/2011/08/26/on-food-sourcing

The Table for One. Who is The Table for One? Unequivocally Fall →. August 26, 2011. I’ve been a bit out of cooking commission, and will likely continue to be, for a while. I was in a bad car accident back in March (which broke my hand), and have been severely limited in my ability to cook like I used to. I had to prioritize money over sourcing. Part of this is related to my upbringing. I grew up near an important and historical co-op in Atlanta, Sevananda. But it’s deeper than that. But even if I hadn’t ...

Wien (Vienna) | Sunshine & Sage

https://sunshineandsage.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/wien-vienna

Phil and I have a new love in our lives and its name is Vienna. What an AMAZING city – the architecture is ornate, beautiful and put to good use. The pastries, breads, and cakes are delicious. In fact, I read somewhere that Vienna is the pastry capital of the world. Yup, I believe it. I would’ve taken more pictures of our delicious treats but I was too busy stuffing my face. Over half of the city is green space, bike lanes are everywhere, and the public transportation network is incredible. Vienna is...

Venice to Vienna | Sunshine & Sage

https://sunshineandsage.wordpress.com/2011/07/17/venice-to-vienna

Venezia, Seconda parte. Wien (Vienna) →. Our time in Venice had come to an end and it was time to head north. But not before trying a spritz. And stumbling upon a surprising art installation. It makes the public health student inside of me smile). Since we were taking an overnight sleeper train to Vienna, we weren’t scheduled to leave until 9pm…and we had to checkout of our place by 11am. Even after hours of exploring, waiting outside was inevitable. Cook, Explore and Learn. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Moroccan Chicken and a Foot of Snow | Edible Cities

https://ediblecities.wordpress.com/2011/02/20/moroccan-chicken-and-a-foot-of-snow

Moroccan Chicken and a Foot of Snow. The idea of making Moroccan chicken is what led me to preserve citrus in the first place, so I pulled up this. Recipe from Tyler Florence and compared it to the contents of my pantry. Rub cinnamon, cloves, cayenne, cumin, fennel, coriander, paprika, salt, and brown sugar into the chicken. Put lemon, garlic, and herbs inside the chicken and roast for one hour. Add apricots, almonds, green onion, and parsley to the couscous after it steams. February 20, 2011. Subscribe ...

Venezia, Seconda parte | Sunshine & Sage

https://sunshineandsage.wordpress.com/2011/07/17/venezia-seconda-parte

Venice to Vienna →. Venezia, Seconda parte. We had to give it a go. I had the vegetarian lasagna. Phil ordered the pumpkin and ricotta flan. And our table enjoyed a liter of house wine. Somehow our group failed to realize that a liter of wine is actually more than the average bottle of wine (750 ml). Plus only 3 out of the 4 of us would be drinking. And Eric bailed mid-carafe. Phil and I do not waste great wine so we took one for the team. Young, old, everyone and anyone were out in the square dancing.

Table for Two, Shall we? | from coast to coast, be brave with faith…

Table for Two, Shall we? From coast to coast, be brave with faith…. Life is a journey, not a destination. I am touched by this poem…. December 27, 2010. Remember the day I borrowed your brand new car and dented it? I thought you’d kill me, but you didn’t. And remember the time I dragged you to the beach, and you said it would rain, and it did? I thought you’d say, “I told you so.” But you didn’t. Do you remember the time I flirted with all the guys to make you jealous, and you were? But you didn’t. Who w...
