Wednesday, August 31, 2016. The hills are alive. Continuing east from Venice through the flat country we stopped in Palmanova – mainly because of its star-shaped appearance on maps.me – it was a quaint little town and had great gelati! It started to drizzle so we actually stopped at a half-finished and abandoned house to camp the night in shelter with a great view of the electrical storm. Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Ending Europe on the Rhein. Our final 2 weeks in Europe were spent along the Rhein River in Germany. We left the train station in Cologne at dusk enjoying the atmosphere. City lights and threatening clouds made for a pretty scene but like all cities we couldn’t ride out fast enough. The next morning was extremely fresh! We kept moving upstream as pedalling was the best way to keep warm. We would only emerge from the tent after 9am when things had slightly warmed up. Everyone we...

Sunday, June 26, 2016. We arrived in Palermo early and promptly fed ourselves (fresh bread, ricotta and honey) before finding our way to the Catacombs (interesting wandering through halls of cadavers in various stages of decay while exhausted after an almost sleepless overnight boat journey! We then headed west thinking we would trace the coast of Sicily anti-clockwise. Beautiful landscapes and beaches were overdeveloped and packed but 2 minutes down the road we could find a perfect place to ourselves.
