Garden Odds and Ends | The Family Blog

https://thevalliereblog.wordpress.com/2015/08/16/garden-odds-and-ends

Where the present and past collide. Garden Odds and Ends. This was our first time growing eggplant. We weren’t sure if we would like it. We have had it in types of casserole dishes other people had made but had never cooked with it ourselves. The guy 2 doors down told us to pick it small and before the shine on the skin dulls or it would be bitter. So we picked it:. He forgot to tell us that the green stem is prickly! Then topped it with garden fresh tomatoes, roasted red pepper and feta cheese:. We let ...

Where the present and past collide. The Medicine Garden Overhaul and HELP! I took the Big Jobs trilogy posts by Kalamain. To heart and tackled my medicine garden today. I have been so busy lately and we are having another hot spell. Knowing I would probably not get around to making much of anything this year, and planting them much too late in the season, made it easier to ignore. So I did. I am the type of person that gets side-tracked quickly. I forget things. Oh boy, did I forget things! It never flow...

Saving Zucchini and Tomato Seeds | The Family Blog

https://thevalliereblog.wordpress.com/2015/08/16/saving-zucchini-and-tomato-seeds

Where the present and past collide. Saving Zucchini and Tomato Seeds. I grated a zucchini up to freeze and got 5 cups out of it. I followed Back Yard Gardening’s post on how to save the seeds. Before grating, I took the core, cleaned out the seeds as best I could and put them in a large glass bowl full of water. I let it sit for several minutes. The dead seeds should float to the top, the good ones will fall to the bottom. Used a slotted spoon to take out the ones that were floating, drained the rest.

Cooler weather/more harvest – lucindagardens

August 18, 2015. Paulina dug some potatoes for the stews we made tonight and I pulled out a few carrots. This is what they looked like. I am afraid that I took the largest ones, so we will have to let the rest grow a little longer before we pull any more. Potatoes and tomatoes we picked today. Sunflowers and corn from the angle of the dike. Roger wanted to be in the picture too. The vine garden in full bloom. 5 thoughts on “ Cooler weather/more harvest. August 18, 2015 at 3:37 pm.
