27th July 2014 The VCC v Broadhalfpenny Down Brigands CC. A summer’s day to remember for all that played at Broadhalfpenny Down. We lost in a nail biting end to the match by 12 runs but to play on such hallowed ground made for an exceptional day in the history of our club. The story of the day is described best with images. The Tigers’ third season ultimately turned out to be one of slight disappointment, despite finishing with a winning margin of 11 victories against ten defeats. Continuing their excellent form of 2013, the team won seven of the first eight games, but then finished with 9 defeats in the last 13 matches. In February 2004 I visited Cape Town in South Africa with The VCC Cricket Club from London. A unique cricket match was held in Gugulethu township between Nyanga CC and The VCC. Organized by the ex-Sussex professional cricket player Paul Phillipson the team visited Liwa Primary School. Within the township. As a result of a memorable day we decided to try and do what we could to support the children of Gugulethu Township. What we so often take for granted here is desperately needed somewhere else.

Monday, July 27, 2015. First Bike Tour for Max and for the Campeur. Max and I did Max's first bike tour this weekend. We rode out a ways on the C&O Canal Towpath, camped, and rode back the next day. Here we are after the first day's ride of 47.2 miles. And here we are after the second day's ride, of 47.1 miles. To make this a good test of loading up the Campeur, I brought everything we needed and then some. I wasn't sure how far Max could go, so I brought full cooking gear and food for dinner in case...
