Sunday, June 15, 2014. A little more Alaska. The mighty Mendenhall Glacier. A simple hike one day, here was our lunch site. Pretty nice view huh? This whale was so close to the shore.and if only I'd walked around a small cove I would have made it in time to see the whale from the stretch of rocks you see in the picture! Oh well, next time. Saturday, May 9, 2015. A week ago, my sister completed her long journey and graduated with her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. Here she is with our dad. He is pretty happy for her too! Way to go Becky! Quite a feat with five kids, balancing a household, working part time and who know what else. I am proud of her, proud she stayed with it when she was so sick of school. Becky with her youngest, Gwyndolyn. I will be sad to see them all move away, but I'm sure we'll see them often.

Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Finished living room. Finally. Nine months into our house and we've completed our living room to our satisfaction. Well, almost. Monday, April 13, 2015. Second Hike for Norah. What a day for a hike. Especially at the coast. Brian, Norah and I decided to play hooky from our lives for a day. Off to Cascade Head. A moderate hike a few miles north of Lincoln City. The trail was awesome. Everything was such a florescent green! And then, it opened up to beautiful meadows with a spectacular view of the ocean. Saturday, May 23, 2015. Toon Town and Minnie Mouse's house. The second day in Disneyland was also quite enjoyable. We started on the Nemo Submarine, down under the depths of the ocean. Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Another Day at the Beach. We traveled to the coast again for a day with Brian's family. His Aunt Kathy was here all the way from Australia, where she lives. And she loves the ocean! So off we went. It wasn't quite as sunny or warm that day. Have you ever seen Vilavella? Every 3-5 years they come in with the waves. In the jellyfish family, they get stranded on our shores. They are pretty though, A deep blue color. And the whole beach was scattered with them! Aunt Kathy and Kyle.

Friday, April 17, 2015. Sitting on the Sand. April 13, 2015. After our hike up Cascade Head (see previous post), we headed to Neskowin Beach. One of my favorites. Brian was able to skim board and we just sat and enjoyed the warmth. She is getting more and more of a personality. We had a doctor appointment yesterday and she weighed 16 pounds 9 ounces and was 25.5 inches long. She has eaten rice cereal, ground up oatmeal, peas, banana, squash, sweet potato, prunes and some applesauce. No allergies yet!

Friday, March 27, 2015. First Hike of the Season. Today felt like summer! My mom, nephew and his friend Sadie and I ventured out to do some hiking. First off Shellburg Falls. A relatively short hike in with a lot of intermingled trails, including some mountain bike trails. Thanks to Julie and Christian for letting us borrow this awesome backpack carrier for Norah! At four and a half months old, she is changing weekly. Yesterday at the doctor's visit she weighed in at 14 pounds and 4 ounces. Twenty five and a 1/4 inches long. Long, but lighter than some. Thursday, August 7, 2014. The Riddle brothers first came to the Steens in 1900, they claimed about 1100 acres of land on both sides of a small river that runs through the valley.
