One Epic Afternoon | The Yarn Diet
https://theyarndiet.wordpress.com/2011/11/21/one-epic-afternoon
It's not having what you want. It's wanting what you've got. –Sheryl Crow. November 21, 2011. What I couldn’t tell you in the last post was the story of what I did on Thursday afternoon. I finished weaving in ends. I finished sorting and counting and writing letters. I finished everything, all my items, and put them all in boxes and bags. And gave almost all of them away. First, Dana’s House. I talked in depth about Dana’s House in my “ Charity Brainstorm. Items for Dana's House. I have pictures of the i...

It's not having what you want. It's wanting what you've got. –Sheryl Crow. Archive for June, 2011. Back to the Real World. So I’m going to stop writing for now. And go knit. Backlog: Monday, June 27. Today, I boarded a plane. Time to go home. I packed up two carry-on bags, the two exact bags with almost exactly the same things I had on my way across the Atlantic. I got to the airport and… and… they told me… I couldn’t have knitting needles. 8221; I was about to start crying. Such a great trip! I knit whe...
The Stash | The Yarn Diet

It's not having what you want. It's wanting what you've got. –Sheryl Crow. March 30, 2011. While I am not ashamed of knitting in public, the stash is a much more private matter. Most Knitters don’t ever want the entire extent of their stash known, perhaps because we’ve cornered the market on hoarding, perhaps because no one believes us when we say, as Stephanie Pearl-McPhee so often does, that a really good stash can help reduce heating and cooling costs by insulating a small house. Are we afraid that sh...

It's not having what you want. It's wanting what you've got. –Sheryl Crow. Archive for September, 2011. Working on the tip I received from Linda last week at Knit Night, this week has been all about hats and mittens to boost her numbers (more details on Monday). Working in those categories, I finished another five objects this week! For FO #1, I followed this pattern. With the leftovers from my ribbed mittens and still holding two strands together, I knit up a Simple Knitted Cap. Just like the hat, the m...

the yarndest thing
Saturday, May 12, 2012. I don't usually stray from my own patterns on this site, but am making the exception for a special occasion. Now I know I'm not alone in my girly "awww"ing at the sight of a Sheldon, but for those of you who may be scratching your heads right about now, I'm referring to the Sheldon the Turtle pattern by Ruth Homrighaus. My cousin recently gave birth to her first born and I thought this would be a fantastic welcome to the world gift! Just in time for Mother's Day! For a bargain yar...

It's not having what you want. It's wanting what you've got. –Sheryl Crow. November 23, 2011. Not just a holiday. Today is the last day. Thanksgiving Break is upon us, and that marks the end of my goal. The end of this journey. The end of my yarn diet. I gave away the last of my items on Monday. At 4:56 pm, I arrived at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. I didn’t have spare cat food or toys or bowls. But I had knitting. I gave them my last ten objects: cage pads aplenty. All the Cage Pads. I want to thank ...
