This is what i think you said: language beliefs

http://www.thisiswhatithinkyousaid.blogspot.com/2008/10/language-beliefs.html

Tuesday, October 7, 2008. I believe that how you talk depends on the situation. I think this because when you are talking to someone you would speak differently then when you talk to your friend. You wold talk more proper to someone that is highly respected then with the man in the drug store. I'm wondering if 'situational' talking - meaning switching your mode of talking depending on who you are talking to - is perceived as a negative thing? I wonder if people would think of this as phony?

That's how I talk!: Data

http://thatshowitalk.blogspot.com/2008/10/data.html

Sunday, October 19, 2008. Almost all of my students said that they use Standard English grammar most or some of the time. Very few reported using it "all the time," on one end of the spectrum, or "rarely"/"never," on the other end. Out of all the students I surveyed, only 2 said that learning Standard English Grammar was not important. The rest cited jobs and success as reasons to write and speak in Standard English Grammar. Sunday, October 26, 2008. My students seem to have a sophisticated understanding of language variation. They recognize how language use changes with circumstance, purpose, and audience. They clearly associate Standard English with school and work. They also see Standard English as necessary for success. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). That's how I talk! That's how I talk!: October 2008

http://thatshowitalk.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 26, 2008. The research that my students are currently conducting into language may deepen their understanding of language variety- especially if they have chosen a topic related to their own language use or language use within their community. It would be interesting to know more about how students define "Standard English." What exactly do they think that means? I'd like to know whether completing language research has changed their assessment of language use. Sunday, October 19, 2008.

I usually put in two eggs because we like the “fudge-y” brownies. I got distracted and added three eggs, inadvertently making the “cake-like” brownies. Dislike. So, I dumped in a bag of Andes mint chips in the hopes that the brownies would return to a more fudge-like state. Success. Why should I have to “un-order” this?
