Sunday, May 20, 2012. This week I have mostly. Been watching The Wire. I missed this the first time round and am now watching it courtesy of a colleague who couldn't believe I'd never seen it and brought in the first season on DVD the next day. Thomasina knits: New toy

http://thomasinaknits.blogspot.com/2012/06/new-toy.html

Friday, June 29, 2012. My first introduction to the Nostepinne egg (the little ball of yarn that you can wind with the Nosty) came at Cecilia's house early on in the week. Cecilia has the most delightful wool room at the back of the house with spinning equipment, fibre, skeins of yarn hanging up, and little Nostepinne balls lying everywhere like little Faberge Easter eggs. And a good YouTube tutorial here. I may refine my technique in time but for now I'm happy with my eggs. Berry Hill fingerless mittens.

Thomasina knits: December 2011

http://thomasinaknits.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 18, 2011. It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas. I've made three batches of these Christmas biscuits to give to friends and family. The recipe is Nigella's butter biscuits from Domestic Goddess with the addition of a teaspoon each of ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and a good grating of nutmeg, plus a zigzag of chocolate with orange oil. The bonus for me is that it makes the whole flat smell like Christmas. Links to this post. Sunday, December 11, 2011. I now have a green bathroom.

The Frog Princess: Handy pocket bag

http://gershamabob.blogspot.com/2012/04/handy-pocket-bag.html

Thursday, 19 April 2012. I decided ages ago that my delightful daughter needed a bag of her own. One that was easy to get into, without a flap to get in the way of the treasures which constantly need carting about. Enter the cargo pocket bag! One bag, fit for the treasures of an 18-month-old munchkin. The strap even has extra length. I can just move the velcro on the strap to a new position, and the bag will grow with her! It was love at first wear. Posted by the frog princess. Ahhh, thats really lovely!

Wednesday, 10 August 2011. Oooh, not posted in ages, terrible I know! And now I'm posting when I really ought to be in bed! A quick recap of the last few months:. Kiddo is nine and a half months old! She's as old as a pregnancy! She keeps me busy. The knitting I've been doing? Well, it's all gonna get ripped out. No point in knitting something in two colours if they're impossible to tell apart except in bright sunlight. Baby trousers: ( Big Butt Baby Pants pattern. A sunsuit from the Made By Rae pattern.

Auntie Freds Knittings and Musings. Tuesday, 21 February 2012. Well I never. There's a Blogger App. It should have been obvious, but I always forget how fast technology is moving. The fact that I can't easily blog from my iPhone one day should make it obvious that there'll be an App to help the next. In other news, no pancakes for me today. And how do people find time to make pancakes before work? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Adventures of RuthieD. Needles on the Move. The Natural Dye Studio.

Auntie Fred's Knittings & Musings: February 2011

http://auntiefred.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Auntie Freds Knittings and Musings. Saturday, 5 February 2011. I promised to write more about the Cornwall retreat, and so here it is (although it may not look that way at first.). I got up this morning, and made a cuppa in my beautiful retreat mug. I then cleared my workspace and started taking photographs. The last class that I took in Cornwall was with Anne and was on photography. Initially, it was just Ali. And me in the class, but then Alice. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Adventures of RuthieD.

Auntie Freds Knittings and Musings. Thursday, 31 December 2009. Over Christmas, I have been dealing with some rather rubbish stuff, which is why I haven't been making Christmassy blog posts. However, I have also been doing some knitting, and I have finished the Socktopus. Club socks. So here they all are! Saturday, 19 December 2009. Just realised that it's over a week since I posted. Oops! Today has been quite productive, although I didn't exactly get up early. Guess what though - the ironing still needs...

Knitted love | Woollydaze

https://woollydaze.wordpress.com/2011/06/24/knitted-love

Wool and what can be done with it. From sheep to needles →. 24 June, 2011. Hello, Woollydaze here… with Littlest Woolly, meaning this blog post is being written one handed…. All of this touting a baby around has meant I’ve been gathering compliments, but not all have been for my daughter. She has been wrapped in knitted love for many of her. I haven’t actually been keeping a tally, but my feeling is that the this blanket has had more compliments than the accompanying baby. Over that past few days, a coup...

Some Thoughts on Aggregating Moderate Amount of Data. November 3, 2014. As part of my role, I need to perform aggregates (group by operation) on some medium size raw text file data, in the region of 100s to 200s of Gb, as a one-off exercise. I have tried using R is performing such aggregates, however, it is slow for a relative small size file. Also, there is memory concern as the biggest data file will not fit in memory. Therefore I hesitate to carry on with this approach. November 2, 2014. A big data To...
