Threads of Whimsy

Wednesday, July 11, 2012. We arrived in Rome early afternoon by train. Rome welcomed us with her stifling heat. The apartment we stayed at was called Clover and run by a hostel called the Beehive. I totally recommend either place for anyone wanting to travel on a budget. Central room at Clover - great place to trade traveling ideas with the other guests. The Spanish Steps and the cute Fountain of the Old Boat. Trevi Fountain - lots of other people liked this as well.there were people everywhere! We sat o...

Threads of Whimsy: June 2012

http://threadsofwhimsy.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 27, 2012. On Thursday, all four of us took off from Geneva and drove south towards Cinque Terre. Italy We drove back in the direction of Mont Blanc (remember the clouds from the day before? But were greeted with clear skies instead! This is what the mountains truly looked like.gorgeous! Brooke told us that there were about 85 tunnels that we would pass through on our trip. Did I believe her? Of course, not! Who has ever heard of that many tunnels on a six hour drive? We stayed in the sout...

Threads of Whimsy: July 2009

http://threadsofwhimsy.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 26, 2009. We visited the new Ghenghis Khan monument on Saturday. It is a very impressive place for the people of Mongolia to remember a great leader of their country. Ghenghis Khan lived back in the late 1100s and made Mongolia the largest empire in the history of the world. You should see the little kids on these horses. They are amazing horse riders because they've been riding since the time they could sit on a horse. Tuesday, July 21, 2009. Here is some of my class on a fun day outing dur...

Threads of Whimsy: June 2011

http://threadsofwhimsy.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 21, 2011. I had heard about this organization through KLOVE, but it was brought to mind again while recently reading Mary Beth Chapman's Choosing to SEE. Here is the most recent project for Susan's house. This took us way more time than it should have to find the fabric, decide upon a style, and figure out how to hang it for the bay windows. But it looks like they turned out well! Monday, June 20, 2011. Drapes for Virginia's room with some modified goblet pleats. Sunday, June 19, 2011.

Threads of Whimsy: Siena

http://threadsofwhimsy.blogspot.com/2012/07/siena.html

Sunday, July 8, 2012. I wanted to explore a little bit more of the Tuscany area surrounding Florence. There are lots of little towns to explore (and I want to see them all! But we chose to go to Siena. Since we had gotten some nice recommendations for it. We hopped on a bus and were there in about an hour. The Town Hall on the Piazza del Campo. We climbed the clock tower later in the day for great views of the countryside. The pigeons know the best places to get a fresh drink on a hot day. We had to end ...

Threads of Us

Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Okay So it's finally warming up and coming out of Winter, and Billy is seriously lacking shorts. Simple solution, make some! I had a look at what patterns I had, but I didn't want a pair of time consuming, overly detailed shorts this time. I wanted something simple, basic and quick to make. Surprisingly, none of my patterns fit the bill! Although the fabric looks quite shiny, it is only drill from SL, but the pocket is quilting cotton received yesterday from HT. After working ma...

threadsofwisdom | SCA research & projects

SCA research and projects. April 4, 2012. I decided to use the four petal pattern, alternating the rust-green that is in my kampfrau; it will also have the square section on top. Below I have all the pieces cut out and one petal completed (image shows front and back sides of petal). I am using a wire for a stabalizer for the edges of each petal. Third, I sew the lining to the second petal piece (the rust), JUST inside the seam allowance. Making sure that the lining is on the WRONG side of the wool&#4...

Threads of Wonder

Saturday, April 3, 2010. I began this blog as a place to focus on the wonderful things in my life and I really have taken too long of a break here. Not because there weren't amazing things happening, but maybe because I was too caught up in life to see them. It is time for me to put down the blinders and start documenting the light and love that flows through all things. Posted by Threads of Inspiration. Links to this post. Monday, September 14, 2009.
