Through My Eyes

Thursday, December 14, 2006. Out with a bang! Five hundred days ago. It's hard to believe five hundred days have passed since the first posting. Of my 365 (now 500) day project. in the past five hundred days, i've met some amazing people, photographed old and young, big and small, shy and crazy, landscapey and close to homey, and everything in between. To celebrate my final posting, i decided to go out with a bang! Mikey was one of the pyrotechnicians for this shoot. This 500 day project is complete!

The Sprouffskes • Life on the Farm: An oldie but a goodie... December Daily 2011

http://blog.thesprouffskes.com/2013/12/an-oldie-but-goodie-december-daily-2011.html

Tuesday, December 10, 2013. An oldie but a goodie. December Daily 2011. In November, I reminded myself just how much I love seeing how much the boys have grown.in something tangible, not on Facebook or online.so I committed to doing the December Daily for our second December together. As last year's December was a bit more "exciting" than anticipated with Alexander's early arrival.I was excited to refocus and spend a few minutes each day documenting what is happening. AND I LOVE IT. Find more advent daily.

The Sprouffskes • Life on the Farm: scenes from the family christmas photo

http://blog.thesprouffskes.com/2006/09/scenes-from-family-christmas-photo.html

Saturday, September 16, 2006. Scenes from the family christmas photo. The christmas photo. this year. 1 new mauss! As per the norm, there are a few fabulously classic mauss fam moments:. We're using the tripod and remote control.so about three or four minutes into the "1, 2, 3, smile! With the remote, mom asks, "so when is it going to start taking photos? Should i smile now? And mom is saying. I bet we won't see the grandchildren as much as we see the dogs.". You guys are all so cute! Here, you'll find a...

The Sprouffskes • Life on the Farm: food for thought

http://blog.thesprouffskes.com/2006/09/food-for-thought.html

Tuesday, September 26, 2006. Written by michael g on september 22. worth the read. Michael, thank you for opening your heart and sharing this journey with everyone who loves you and your family. It is kind of difficult at times to see mom like this, when just ten days ago she was radiant at her birthday party. She has been saying things like…“Take care of your father” and “I love you very much”… like she is saying goodbye. Today, mom could barely manage the four teaspoons of soup I fed her…. Kids spend t...

The Sprouffskes • Life on the Farm: Seven Quick Takes: The Alexander Edition

http://blog.thesprouffskes.com/2013/08/seven-quick-takes-alexander-edition.html

Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Seven Quick Takes: The Alexander Edition. In no particular order. Alexander is eight months old now. His hair is fine and blonde.and gets curly on occasion. When that happens, I hold him up like the "Lion King" and let him know that he's definitely my son. He's 13 pounds - still on the "little peanut" side, but a crazy big eater like his older brothers. He sleeps through the night better than his older brothers. They are all sleeping in the same room. We found amazing sleep again.

The Sprouffskes • Life on the Farm: I'm a Pre-K-er!

http://blog.thesprouffskes.com/2013/09/im-pre-k-er.html

Thursday, September 26, 2013. We welcomed with open arms the first day of Pre-K. A return to routines, getting up early, and schedules from the crazy laid-back theme of summer. But the beautiful summer weather changed the first day of school, and this is what we started with:. Ridiculous amounts of pouring rain. So we held off for a bit for this "school picture". And this is the classic image of his face right now:. And his first day "record" of the important things right now:. Find more the fam. Here, y...

The Sprouffskes • Life on the Farm: the fourth of july

http://blog.thesprouffskes.com/2007/07/fourth-of-july.html

Thursday, July 5, 2007. The fourth of july. The fourth of july at ft. lewis. an annual tradition (i think we're on the 9th year in a row).with mike and the plu football team crew lighting the sky for the freedom fest. i love being out here on post for independence day - the crowd was thinner this year due to deployments, but it was so worth it to be there. Each year, they hand out sweet 3-d glasses, which stella is modeling above (complete with her trademarked 'warm and welcoming smile'. :). A glimpse in...

Friday, November 1, 2013. Quick Takes: The First Day of November Edition. Seven snippets of life right now. Thomas went indoor skydiving. His buddy Mic turned four, and so Mic, Thomas, Zac and Alicen headed north to iFly at Southcenter. I was flying home from Atlanta at the time.so I LOVE LOVE LOVED touching down and opening this video that Amy shot for us. He loved being Peter Pan and did even better the second time. I think fall will always be intense. I've lost ten pounds in the last two weeks. Workin...

The Sprouffskes • Life on the Farm: 25 days of christmas | day seven

http://blog.thesprouffskes.com/2007/12/25-days-of-christmas-day-seven.html

Friday, December 7, 2007. 25 days of christmas day seven. The infamous christmas letters. i've been meaning to blog these for a while, but had to get them all pdf'ed and ready to go. (for those of you who know how detailed oriented i am, know that the funky formatting on each letter was designed around the particular christmas paper chosen each year. i seriously did not want to take the time to reformat it. it's called. The Sprouffskes • Life on the Farm: Brother to brother

http://blog.thesprouffskes.com/2014/04/brother-to-brother.html

Tuesday, April 8, 2014. The other night, Thomas and John Paul were finishing up their baths (much needed after the muddy, muddy day on the farm and some little kid messes). I was in the kitchen cleaning up dinner and was listening to them talk in the bathroom. Most of it was Thomas, with John Paul responding a little. It was one of those moments that I immediately wrote down because I never wanted to forget it. I love having boys together, so close in age. I DID NOT KNOW THAT, THOMAS! Find more john paul.

The Sprouffskes • Life on the Farm: a litany

http://blog.thesprouffskes.com/2006/09/litany.html

Saturday, September 2, 2006. Thursday was a lame day in my life. it was frustrating. it was irritating. dealing with people who were frustrating and irritating. and i probably was just as frustrating and irritating too. Enter the september issue of magnificat. The peeps in my corner of the office arrived on friday morning to find, in each of our offices, copies of one of the blessings in the front of the issue. copied by dad. The litany to sanctify work. From the temptation to be listless and lazy. From ...

Through The Eyes of Our Grandparents

Through The Eyes of Our Grandparents. Friday, August 5, 2016. Ritual has been a part of daily life since the beginning of time and our grandparents were no different. We may believe that their lives reflected a series of habits, but in actuality, they were daily rituals that gave meaning to their existence. Take a look at the average American farmer in the early 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The simple act of rising each morning, and sharing a cup of coffee or breakfast before work was ritual. Yet, no ...
