Scribblings From My Desk: The 'one anothers'
http://peterdray.blogspot.com/2009/12/one-anothers.html
Tuesday, 8 December 2009. I've spent some time doing a word study on 'one another' of the New Testament. Most of these 'one anothers' appear to be those things we do in community with other Christians, regardless of whether they are in our own church family (although they will often find expression primarily in our local church family). It's quite a list. and a great reminder that whilst following Jesus is a personal allegiance, it's never merely private. Honour one another above yourselves (Romans 12:10).
mim {no longer} en belgique: Why God Loves Us: His Glory!
http://miriam-ford.blogspot.com/2012/04/new-understanding-god-and-his-glory.html
Thursday, 12 April 2012. Why God Loves Us: His Glory! So I downloaded his "Matters of the Heart". Talks from New Word Alive last year a while ago, but don't think I got round to listening to them (don't know where I managed to get it from but I'm pretty sure I didn't pay for them - let me know if you'd like to borrow mine! So he's talking about what God's glory is:. Is the light and glory which are about the throne on which God sits. Why don't we have a crack at that? IS love. He is. What God aims at is ...

Living Stones: January 2011
http://catwin.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
A conversation about living in grace and being a light in the world. Sunday, January 30, 2011. Let your reading be like good wine. Mike Reeves hits us again with the delight in reading theology and learning about theologians. This isn't a book that causes us to stand still but to " go back to the sources. He takes us through Luther, Calvin, Owen, Edwards, Schleiermacher and Barth and spurs us on to read more about them and go to their works of theology and delve into the depths. Bish writes a review here.
Scribblings From My Desk: November 2009
http://peterdray.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 November 2009. Ed Clowney on meeting Jesus. I read this gem of a quote from Ed Clowney yesterday:. Those who read the word of God, and surely those who teach it, must never forget why the word is given and whom it reveals. The word shows us that the Lord is good. His words are sweeter than honey to our taste because in them the Lord gives himself to us. The Message of 1 Peter: The way of the cross. Links to this post. Thursday, 26 November 2009. Scribblings From My Desk: May 2009

Thursday, 28 May 2009. Nehemiah 8: Word Alive. Here is the text of the last message I gave at Lancaster CU. The table on law and gospel is taken from World Harvest Mission. As we’ve seen, the book of Nehemiah is all about the work and worship of God’s people, serving in his strength. In the chapters prior to Nehemiah 8 we’ve seen Nehemiah lead his people – the ancient Israelites – in rebuilding the walls around Jerusalem. Why was Nehemiah so bothered about repairing these walls? Is it a football match?
Scribblings From My Desk: October 2009

Friday, 30 October 2009. Engaging with Foucault: can we believe in truth any more? I spoke earlier in the week at Sheffield CU's lunchbar, engaging with issues of truth. As a social scientist, it's great to be engaging with writers like Michel Foucault. On whether Foucault is correct in thinking power must always be used in a way that invariably restricts freedoms). I owe part of my thinking here to Tim Keller. Here's a summary of what I said:. 20th Century philosophies of truth. View of the truth. Jesus...

Indie country/folk duo Tim and Nicki Bluhm release. The eight tracks on. Blend the honky tonk harmonies of California country with West Coast folk and acoustic Americana, interlaced with vocal nuances and an emotional intimacy that inspire pin-drop attention. Sounds like a smile, says Nicki. Is a debut, this isn’t the first time that music lovers have heard of Tim and Nicki Bluhm as a performing duo. While most may know of Tim as the co-founder of The Mother Hips, currently celebrating 20 years as a ...
Yount Family Chaos...I Mean Fun!
Yount Family Chaos.I Mean Fun! Tuesday, November 6, 2012. My favorite "big guy" had his 8th birthday on September 23rd. Jace's most recent obsession is Star Wars, and although he has yet to see ANY of the movies, he lives and breathes all things Star Wars :) So of course, this became the theme of this year's party. ALL of Jace's presents were LEGOS and only one of them wasn't a Star Wars set. Apparently his friends know what he likes. Check out the little boy in the red, he was cracking me up! I have bee...

Nice Time UK
Thursday, January 3, 2008. It's been a while since our last post, but we thought we'd give you a quick overview of our Christmas/New Year celebrations. While we haven't travelled out of England since our trip to Ireland, we did manage to see more of the English countryside around Christmas. We also managed to indulge in proper scones with jam and 'clotted' cream as well as the equally unhealthy 'Bath bun'. Mmmmmmm. And were almost late for church because we all took so long unwrapping everything! Anyway,...
