While we haven't travelled out of England since our trip to Ireland, we did manage to see more of the English countryside around Christmas. Tuesday, August 28, 2007. Not putting them to sleep. Nic spent the day marching Mum and Dad around the local sights of Kensington High Street, Westborne Grove, Holland Park and Harrod's. The jet lag was strong (it claimed the loss of an umbrella somewhere in Harrods) but Nicola persevered and only at 7.30 pm when Nic and I headed out to a friend's birthday dinner, were Mum and Dad finally allowed to sleep. Friday, September 14, 2007. What do you get when you eat too much garlicky tapas, drink sangria by the litre and shop so much that you need to buy extra luggage to take it all home? Friday, November 16, 2007. A quick update about where we've spent our last two weekends. Germany and Belgium! Berlin is a fascinating city for history buffs. It feels pretty, ugly, western, communist and war-like all at once. 90% of the city was bombed during WWII so the city has an ecclectic feel - buildings that are replicas of originals, new modern creations and empty bombed-out shells still standing. It was our first 'cold' European experience but the beer and bratwurst helped to warm us up!

We had a great weekend in London and only had to buy one more thing for the house from 'Argos'.a weird shop where you order everything from a catalogue, pay for it, then wait at the back of the store for it to come out of the storeroom. Monday, October 1, 2007. It's been a while since we went to Barcelona and we've enjoyed staying in London and exploring it all a bit better. Thought I should write a brief update about what we've been up to. We managed to survive watching the Rugby World Cup when Australia played Wales. Unfortunately, we chose to watch it in probably the only Welsh pub in London and were part of the small minority of Aussies there (there were about six of us in total.and about a few hundred Welsh).
