Josh in the Congo: August 2011
http://joshinthecongo.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Josh in the Congo. Weekly Wrap: August 22-28. I had a free day in Dubai so I went exploring the city. Among the things I saw were the world's tallest building, the world's largest mall, the only 7-star hotel in the world, an indoor artificial ski slope, and a ton of other buildings just as impressive. After living in Africa for the last year without much to see I thought this was an ironic first place to visit. I rode the metro in dubai and took buses. I miss and love public transportation. I also had to...

Josh in the Congo. They say you haven't really been initiated into the Congo until you've been pulled over by the traffic police here. It took me 3 and a half months but I am finally apart of the club! Links to this post. I've had some unfortunate experiences with the authorities and traffic laws lately. Here is my first story. Josh in the Congo: October 2010

Josh in the Congo. A Lot of Truth? Came across this map the other night and found it quite amusing. Links to this post. At one point during the flight I did try to read Heart of Darkness. Joseph Conrad's significant work of English literature about the Congo. I thought it would be profound to read it as I soared over the country the book was about, but I made it through 4 pages before deciding I could finish it later. Not as profound as I thought but it earned the title of this post. Links to this post.

Josh in the Congo: September 2010
http://joshinthecongo.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Josh in the Congo. A Day in the Life. A lot of people have been asking what it is that I am doing here. Each day is different and unknown, which I like, but here is an account of my day to give you somewhat of an idea of the things I am doing in Lubumbashi. Woke up 7:15am. Didn't have the neighbor kids screaming their heads off to wake me up. That was unusual. Started working on formatting 'Airstrip Guides' on my mac using the Pages application. We stopped in at the World Concern office to collect a paym...

Josh in the Congo: April 2011
http://joshinthecongo.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Josh in the Congo. Year of the Beard. One year of my life and for what? I guess because I can. A way to make small group of people (not including the entire country of Congo) smile and laugh. A way to practice self-control. A story to tell when it's all over. I still have 258 more days to think of some other benefits. Cheers to the year I will not attract the ladies with the overgrowth of hair on my face. Links to this post. So after considering my options I decided on Zanzibar! Links to this post. Le fa...

Josh in the Congo: Weekly Wrap: July 11-17
http://joshinthecongo.blogspot.com/2011/07/weekly-wrap-july-11-17.html
Josh in the Congo. Weekly Wrap: July 11-17. Some highlights of the trip were. The boat ride up and down the river. Beautiful large river in the middle of the Congo. Surrounded on every side by think jungle. African grey parrots and other birds flying all around. Amazing. And to do the boat ride in a dugout canoe just makes it so much more better. The night before we left the small village there gathered and sang some songs for us. Everyone in the village joined in from the little kids to the mamas an...
