A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Saturday, June 29, 2013. Here's a few of my visitors. The squirrels were the first to visit of course. They will sit and eat until they're about to explode. A peck on the window will send them away if they get too greedy. The blue jays haven't found it yet. In the second picture, they are feeding where I had the feeder originally. A cardinal and his mate have found it as well. Do you feed the birds? What backyard visitors do you get? There's conflict...

A Diva's Garden: Vegetable Garden Fencing
http://adivasgarden.blogspot.com/2012/03/vegetable-garden-fencing.html
A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Wednesday, March 14, 2012. I decided to expand my garden this year. Last year it was 10 x 20, and was somewhat crowed with what I planted. This year I'm going to till a 25 x 25 or 30 x 30 area and fence it in similar to the picture shown. We're putting up 250 feet of privacy fencing, so I thought I would fence the garden as well. I would love to hear what you think about one method over the other. I will definitely incorporate the arbor, stepping sto...

A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Monday, September 2, 2013. How to Determine When Watermelons Are Ripe. I harvested my Sugar Baby watermelons, and they are delicious. Sorry I only put in one plant this year. Next year, 2 - 3 plants will find their way into the garden. They're the perfect size to place in the fridge and just enough to share. I'll manage to harvest enough to place in the freezer for chili and salsa, but no pickled peppers this season. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I dec...

A Diva's Garden: Homemade Salsa
http://adivasgarden.blogspot.com/2013/10/homemade-salsa.html
A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Sunday, October 13, 2013. The garden is coming to a close, but I'm still producing a few tomatoes and peppers. I decided to make a batch of salsa for the winter. I have to say it was delicious. 5 - 6 lbs. tomatoes skinned and chopped (I used whatever variety I had that was ripe. I suggest allowing them to drain in a colander after chopping to get rid of some of the water). 3 cups chopped onion (I used yellow, red and white). 1 cup chopped cilantro.

A Diva's Garden: Garden Harvest
http://adivasgarden.blogspot.com/2013/08/garden-harvest.html
A Diva Who Traded Her High Heels for a Kitchen Garden. Wednesday, August 7, 2013. My cukes have given me a pretty good crop so far this season. Last year was a bust. I made 4 quarts of spicy dill refrigerator pickles over the week-end, and they are delicious. I marinade them for several hours and than refrigerate them for 10 days. Not sure if all 4 jars will make it that long. I see one being opened and devoured over the week-end. The squash was fried for dinner. What's happening in your garden? Labels: ...
