Carbupdate | Tinkering With Tiny Hondas
https://tinyhondas.wordpress.com/2009/11/04/carbupdate
Tinkering With Tiny Hondas. An on-going attempt to restore and repurpose small Honda engines. November 4, 2009. So, I had some time to work on the new (old) mower last night. First, I cleaned it a bit. The grime that had built up on the cylinder housing could not have been good for heat dispersal. So now, it’s mostly clean. After a bit of persuasion and machining, all the spacers and gaskets are now stacked up and the carburetor fits. I’ll have to fix that by cutting a bit off the air filter attach...

Tinkering With Tiny Hondas. An on-going attempt to restore and repurpose small Honda engines. March 26, 2008. Couldn’t Stand It Anymore…. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but I pulled the GX150 engine out of the little HS35 snowblower a while back (this was about a month or two ago). Since then it has been sitting on the floor of the garage, gathering sawdust. At least the little engine isn’t laying clumsily on the floor anymore. Here’s another shot from a different angle:. On September 19, 2008.
RIP GCV-160 | Tinkering With Tiny Hondas

Tinkering With Tiny Hondas. An on-going attempt to restore and repurpose small Honda engines. November 3, 2009. It’s been a while since I’ve posted something, but there have been a few developments in the garage. Not to bury the lead, the GCV-160 on the Yardman mower is not going to work after all. Here’s what happened:. I got the mower put back together, fixed the things that needed fixing, cleaned out the carburetor and it started just fine. Yay! Could I replace the crankshaft? I have since taken the e...
Getting Ready | Tinkering With Tiny Hondas
https://tinyhondas.wordpress.com/2009/06/05/68
Tinkering With Tiny Hondas. An on-going attempt to restore and repurpose small Honda engines. June 5, 2009. The garage has been a flurry of activity for the last couple of days (when I’m home in the evenings) as I’ve been busy cleaning and restoring the Yard-Man mower to get ready for its crown jewel, the GCV160 Honda engine. On Wednesday, I spent a bit of time cleaning out the insides, removing all the underside build-up, and some of the rust. Then came the paint! Meantime, there are a couple of plastic...
At Long Last: A Lawnmower! | Tinkering With Tiny Hondas

Tinkering With Tiny Hondas. An on-going attempt to restore and repurpose small Honda engines. June 2, 2009. At Long Last: A Lawnmower! Indeed, after searching the free listings on Craigslist for more than a year, a lawnmower with a tiny Honda engine is now parked snuggly in the garage. Technically it’s a YardMan/MTD mower with the 5.5 hp Honda GCV160 engine on it. But it’s self-propelled and has a bag, so it could become my daily mower if I can get it running properly. Pictures are coming soon…. Fill in ...

Capturing slices of the North Star State, one day at a time. City in the Valley. I love this view of downtown Minneapolis as seen from Burnsville as you make your way north along I-35W. Life with a 1964 Triumph Spitfire. One Major Electric Issue Solved. Spring warmup →. September 14, 2011 · 4:55 pm. Here’s a shot of the Spitfire at Wheels and Wings in Osceola, Wis. last weekend (Sept. 10). There were hundreds (somewhere around 1,000) cars there, along with lots of airplanes and a little air show. The weather was great, but the sun was a bit harsh after a few hours. Capturing slices of the North Star State, one day at a time. I’ve been wanting to get a shot of the Marshall/Lake Bridge from this angle for quite a while now. While I like this picture, I’ll likely go back at some point to shoot it with the SLR (and maybe at dusk, or even earlier in the morning — this shot was taken right around sunrise with my HX7V). Update to the driver’s seat | Life with a 1964 Triumph Spitfire
https://64spitfire.wordpress.com/2012/04/10/update-to-the-drivers-seat
Life with a 1964 Triumph Spitfire. April 10, 2012 · 10:01 pm. Update to the driver’s seat. So the driver’s seat of the Triumph has always been a little bent. It was apparently deformed a bit after the rollover in 1966. On top of that (and possibly also because of the 1966 accident), a bracer bar in the bottom back broke off. So a couple of weeks ago, I removed the driver’s seat from the car in an attempt to fix both issues. I’m afraid removing the coverings to truly fix the frame would cause too mu...

Life with a 1964 Triumph Spitfire. I’m Not Worthy. Day Of Firsts →. August 22, 2010 · 9:45 pm. Ice Cream and Electric Issues. This has been a fun weekend. Paul has been home (yay! And yesterday (Saturday) we bled the brakes (again) — it’s so much easier with two people. Mmmmmm… Grapefruit Mint Sorbet for Paul, Dakota Berry for me. The patio was nice as it was just getting dark and they had strings of little electric lights hanging through the trees. And then we realized the lights were all really dim....

Life with a 1964 Triumph Spitfire. Too Short, Too Long, And Just Right. Wheels and Wings →. September 4, 2011 · 6:19 pm. One Major Electric Issue Solved. Yes, that’s an alternator sitting in the engine of the Spitfire, replacing the generator. Since bringing the car to Minnesota, we’ve had to deal with problems from the generator. You may recall. That this led to a harrowing drive home in the dark one night after getting yummy ice cream last year. The old generator has now been removed. Address never mad...

And that means it’s time to take the cover off the Triumph, dust it off, and go for a ride. I did that on Thursday for the monthly meeting of the Minnesota Triumphs. It was a bit chilly out, but the top on the car kept the worst of the cold out. This slideshow requires JavaScript. Filed under Triumph Spitfire. Tagged as convertible top. Tinkering With Tiny Hondas. An on-going attempt to restore and repurpose small Honda engines. July 20, 2010. Sorry I haven’t posted much in the last few months. There hasn’t been much movement on the tiny Honda front. The mower still runs, but poorly. I suspect the piston rings are worn. I haven’t even used it (been using the Briggs&Stratton mower instead). And now there’s a new toy in the garage. To play with. :). November 7, 2009. All Back Together Again. Air Filter - Before. Air Flter - After. I’...
