Racial Bias in Preschool | A Teaching Life
https://mcedmonds.wordpress.com/2016/10/21/racial-bias-in-preschool
Teaching, learning, living, and more. October 21, 2016. Racial Bias in Preschool. It’s been a busy month for me, and I’ve started to develop a backlog of potential posts. Here’s an idea from almost a month ago (! On my way into school, I heard this piece on NPR: “Racial Bias Isn’t Just a Police Problem, It’s a Preschool Problem”. That teachers are often implicitly biased in their classroom discipline. Here’s the gist of the study, and the kernel of the findings:. Behavior in the classroom. Sometimes ...

My studio is unusually clean for this point before I have a show that opens. I’m in good shape and it seems that its just a matter of tying up loose ends. a tastier speech: happy new year!
http://atastierspeech.blogspot.com/2011/01/happy-new-year.html
Saturday, January 1, 2011. Last night, we made pizzas and watched Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole. Which was surprisingly good. The best part, though, was watching Mac imitate the owls' expressions. The pizza dough was from this recipe. And is so easy to make. I double it for either two large or four small pizzas. After adding sauce, toppings and covering with cheese, I brush the edges with olive oil and sprinkle with just a bit of course salt. I'm going to try the 365 photo project. A shor...

a tastier speech: January 2010
http://atastierspeech.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 30, 2010. What a week. Busy; the days passed in a blur. We're starting the weekend with one kid fighting a cold and an irritating PayPal/USPS issue rearing its head again. So, let's introduce lightness into this cold, grey day with popovers. Easy to make, crisp on the outside and doughy inside, they're delicious drizzled with honey. The ingredients and proportions are similar to crepes (more eggs, less butter), but they are baked in muffin tins and don't keep as well. I have two plants.

Monday, February 22, 2010. Who needs a Wii. When what they really want. Is a drained pool. Monday, February 15, 2010. All that remains to do on the Auction quilt. Is the binding. But after piecing and quilting, I'm thinking I need to change the blog name to the crooked quilter. Or maybe sew not straight. Who knew it could be so difficult to sew a (long) straight seem? I like the green of the back. The leftover will make a nice skirt. Monday, February 8, 2010. Saturday night we went to hear Greg Mortensen.

a tastier speech: August 2010
http://atastierspeech.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 11, 2010. It seems fitting to spend our annual week on the Alabama coast working on a skirt from the Alabama Stitch Book. My first foray into hand stitching, and love it. I cut the panels and stenciled them before leaving home. Now I spend lazy days on the back porch stitching around the stenciled designs and cutting out the shapes. On the horizon, tugs pull barges back and forth. Sometimes they go in circles. We suspect they're skimming for oil. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Saturday, April 10, 2010. The backyard has pretty much been put back together; we roasted marshmallows on a beautiful spring night last weekend. The roses are blooming, and they're beautiful. Actually, they're pulling down the fence, but that's another story. Here's to a weekend full of baseball, football and family. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
