I have experienced slight shin and heel pain and it did not seem to matter what i tried the pain always returned after a run. Everything was ok during the run. I decided that i would concentrate on being quiet over the ground and stop the foot "slapping". i have done this for the last two runs, including one of 56 minutes duration. Friday, February 24, 2006. I have been away with wor for two weeks. The great news is - i kept up my running program - even when i arrived home late. Boy! I have been injury free ( not tempting fate) and I am really enjoying building my program. My first race in twenty years occurs this weekend. It is a 10k. Bring it on. Ran for 190 minutes in total and because i have built up to this gradually I do not appear to be suffering any injury concerns. Most runners I see are faster than me - this is not a concern - I will still build a base before introducing speedwork into my program. Still on track for my first marathon in 2006. This sickness was related to my Menieres syndrome which effectively meant i could not race.
