notes from a coffee shop.: June 2015
http://www.seetraciwrite.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 14, 2015. What's in your bag? I'm an over-packer. I like being prepared, even if it means being impractical. Every time I travel, I think about every "worst case scenario" and try to prepare- just in case. Which is what leads to the anxiety of trying to figure out how to put an umbrella, five different types of shoes, three books, and three purses into one carry-on, along with the other basics I actually need and will use. Saturday, June 13, 2015. Friday, June 5, 2015. What do you do?
notes from a coffee shop.: my first New York. [NaBloPoMo 12]
http://www.seetraciwrite.com/2015/08/my-first-new-york-nablopomo-12.html
Wednesday, August 12, 2015. My first New York. [NaBloPoMo 12]. I literally waited 10 minutes for the train yesterday, only to take it one stop and realize I'd gone the wrong way. Which is something that's been happening more often than usual lately. I can't figure out if I'm not being very attentive, or if I'm just forgetful and can't remember where I'm going. When I walked out onto 8th Ave, I didn't know how to get a cab or how to tell the driver, once I got one, where to go because I didn't have a home...
notes from a coffee shop.: NaBloPoMo: hello.

Saturday, August 1, 2015. Vlog Every Day in August"), I wanted to find a way to break out of the creative rut I've found myself in recently. Lately when I've sat down to write, I've gone through the usual process of word vomiting and then overthinking- and then doing nothing about whatever I've just written. So let's try something else: every month is "National Blog Posting Month". Before sharing with the world. But that's silly, right? I'm imperfect. My thoughts are imperfect. Or someone I just met?

Can news literacy education help create more engaged and critical consumers of media, and what role does a more news-literate public play in driving demand for a better, thriving and tech-savvy journalistic product indeed, the new consumer-driven media model of the 21st century? How, why, and where we consume the news - and why it matters for the future of American democracy, citizenship, and the free market. Like What You See? Saturday, May 25, 2013. The Truth About Kids And Social Media.
notes from a coffee shop.: much ado about to-do lists. [NaBloPoMo 11]
http://www.seetraciwrite.com/2015/08/much-to-do-nablopomo-11.html
Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Much ado about to-do lists. [NaBloPoMo 11]. I like making to-do lists. In college, Amanda and I used to tape paper to the wall and write out our individual lists: essays, editing, dishes, etc. It was satisfying crossing things off the list and seeing that we've accomplished something. These days, my to-do lists tend to be on screens. I set reminders for myself on my phone and use my unread emails in my inbox as a way of saying, "Hey, Traci, don't forget about that! Squeaky wheel...
notes from a coffee shop.: March 2015
http://www.seetraciwrite.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Today was my job.'. Today was my job.". Hat tip to Anna Akana. For that thought of the day. I was thinking the other day about where we find our happiness in life. We spend so much of our day at work, but how happy are we there? We can like our jobs, but is it what fulfills us? And what happens on days when things at the office aren't great? Then our happiness disappears. As obvious as it seems, making work your life isn't the best idea. Just some pre-bed food for thought.
notes from a coffee shop.: 525,600 minutes. [NaBloPoMo 10]
http://www.seetraciwrite.com/2015/08/525600-minutes-nablopomo-10.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. 525,600 minutes. [NaBloPoMo 10]. There's a line from Rent. At Angel's funeral where Maureen is giving her eulogy and she says, "You always used to say how lucky we were that we were friends, but it was us. Baby, who were the lucky ones.". I've been thinking lately about the legacies we leave. What will people remember about me? And yet that thought itself feels a little selfish. Who cares what people say about me when I'm gone? I won't be here to care. August 15, 2015 at 12:09 AM.
notes from a coffee shop.: favorite feelings. [NaBloPoMo 9]
http://www.seetraciwrite.com/2015/08/favorite-feelings-nablopomo-9.html
Sunday, August 9, 2015. Favorite feelings. [NaBloPoMo 9]. Inspired by this Hank Green vlog. On "favorite feelings," I decided to really think about 15 of my favorite feelings. So, not an original concept for a blog, but original thoughts- by meeee- nonetheless.and in no particular order:. Seeing someone or some people I haven't seen in a long time:. Taking my shoes off after a long day:. Particularly if I've been wearing uncomfortable shoes, kicking them off upon entering my apartment is the best feeling.
notes from a coffee shop.: on joy and sadness. [NaBloPoMo 4]
http://www.seetraciwrite.com/2015/08/on-joy-and-sadness-nablopomo-4.html
Tuesday, August 4, 2015. On joy and sadness. [NaBloPoMo 4]. I've been trying to understand this concept of "joy" for awhile now. I think my definition of "joy" for a long time was the same as superficial happiness. To be a joyful person, I believed, was to be optimistic and smiling and upbeat and "in love" with love life. For those of you've who've seen Inside Out. My definition of "joy" was literally character of Joy for the first half of the film. But over the course of the last year or so, that shifted.
notes from a coffee shop.: 'two kinds of ice cream.' [NaBloPoMo 8]
http://www.seetraciwrite.com/2015/08/two-kinds-of-ice-cream-nablopomo-8.html
Saturday, August 8, 2015. Two kinds of ice cream.' [NaBloPoMo 8]. Sometimes when I'm down, I think about that "Happiness" song from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. That we learned in choir one year in grade school:. Last Christmas, I was hanging out with Cortney and wrecking journals. And as we ran around the park, throwing paper airplanes and running up and down a grassy hill, I thought to myself, "I couldn't do this in New York." I mean- I could.
