Birding Ecosse: The manic pace continues!
http://birdingecosse.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-manic-pace-continues.html
Wednesday, 15 May 2013. The manic pace continues! Sorry for lack of posts recently, it's not that I have nothing to report, the exact opposite in fact with not enough hours in the day! Met some brilliant people, seen some brilliant birds and been in some spectacular Scottish scenery. To keep you going a quick selection of pics taken over the last few weeks. Tawney Owl (looking stunning. not! Can you spot Owlet number 2? When on a tour that is). 16 May 2013 at 17:24. Love the owlets. Found #2.

Birding Ecosse: July 2013
http://birdingecosse.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 2 July 2013. I'm back - Alberta Part1. Well that's me back to Bonnie Scotland after a cracking three weeks in Alberta Canada, taking in the worst flooding in Alberta's history, being caught up in a real live Tornado warning and some scorching sunshine. Although not a birding holiday all the people we stayed with accepted our strange ways and all pulled out the stops to ensure we saw as many species possible, so a massive thanks to you, one and all! WelshLassy - Birding Blog: April 2014
http://welshlassy.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
WelshLassy - Birding Blog. Follow my progress as a Trainee Bird Ringer, based in North Wales. Thursday, 24 April 2014. Easter bunny has been busy. Last year I monitored Pied Flycatchers at Aber. This species is very helpful by using nestboxes, which have kindly been provided for them for many years by Geoff Gibbs. Compared with our previous visit at the start of April, where we did some repairs to the boxes and checked them all for any early nest building, the woods were a lot quieter. The relative l...

I’ve been on Öland for almost a month now, and I don’t know where to begin! I’ve been kept pre-occupied with birds, birds and birds (and maybe a snake or moose hunt! So I guess blog writing has taken a back seat. Ryd, our local site. Great pond for dragonflies and amphibians! So, what am I doing here? My first Collared Flycatcher! It’s very difficult sometimes to stay f...

The last SCAN weekend of the 13/14 season didn't get off to a great start. Steve e-mailed to say that our intended Saturday catch was off due to the birds not being around (and the weather being more than a bit eurgh! WelshLassy - Birding Blog. Follow my progress as a Trainee Bird Ringer, based in North Wales. Sunday, 20 April 2014. AFON and BTO Young Birders Workshop. When I heard about the Young Birders Workshop, I knew I had to attend! It was held at the BTO head office in Thetford, which is a LONG way from Bangor! I hate Sat Nav, so was quite happy to be playing navigator. We arrived about 9am, which gave us some time to network before the event started. I was busy chatting to Peter about AFON when I got sligh...

Gillian Dinsmore’s Bird Ringing Blog: August 2012
http://gilliandinsmore.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, 16 August 2012. Flick Me A Swift! In June, whilst out checking on a few nests around the local cemetery, we noticed some Swifts flying particularly low amongst the gravestones. We decided to take the opportunity to try some flick netting so jumping in the car we whizzed back to the house, picked up the gear and hurried back before the Swifts started flying high again. These little high flying wonders have such extremely sharp claws it’s unreal and very painful! Lesson learned I think! Back in J...

There are many reasons for why I've decided to start keeping a blog, but the main one is to keep track of my birding and share it with other interested parties. So, here's a rundown of my bird ringing highlights of 2013:. Total birds ringed - 777. Total species ringed - 50. Ringing sessions attended - 23. With a little help, w...
