Following approval of the Final Business Case by the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government in late 2007, work to move all of the underground cables and pipes in preparation for the construction of the tram track itself has begun. Construction of the tram lines, laying track and erecting overhead wires etc. will start thereafter. Up-to-date information on works is available from this website in the Construction Update section. Multi Utilities Diversion Framework Agreement Carillion. Agreements have been reached with utilities companies (gas, water, electricity, etc) to put in place a single, co-ordinated contract to move all the underground cables and pipes which lie underneath the tram tracks in preparation for the construction of the tram tracks themselves.
