Editorials, critiques, and otherwise searingly important comments from a young woman of innumerable opinions. Things Mothers Should Never Say. Me: God, I hate D.C. sometimes. Me: Too small. And apparently there's something about me that attracts homeless and drunken men. Me: Homeless men keep hitting on me on the subway! Today this guy came up to me and said, 'Hi, I was just wondering, would you like to have dinner with me sometime? Mom: Well, Laura, everybody has needs. Random Thought of the Day. Death ...

Kiss my spatula food photography. Laquo; Satsuma Sorbet. January 19, 2010 by G. On our last trip to Paris, my husband and I rented a little. Graced with a balcony facing magnificent centuries-old buildings, brightly-colored tiny shops, and a friendly street. Most mornings, straight out of bed, I’d scamper over to the balcony, fling open the vintage double doors to hear, just below, the laughter of school children and, on Sundays, the ringing of church bells. This was a real. Turned me onto this addiction...

Anything & Everything: February 2009
http://panopticview.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Editorials, critiques, and otherwise searingly important comments from a young woman of innumerable opinions. Good lord, has it really been over two months? You've got to love the way the time just flies by between Thanksgiving and Single's Awareness Day . oops, I mean Valentine's Day. Especially when the interim involves, besides the usual holiday festivities, the inauguration of the first African American president in the country. I have employment again! Yes, I know it's supposed to be the other way a...

Old Song Resung - Herbs in the 21st Century: Camping Trip
http://oldsongresung.blogspot.com/2010/05/camping-trip.html
Wednesday, May 12, 2010. I am sans internet at my apt now, so sorry for the slow posting here. Last month (it doesn't seem that long ago.), we (the herbies) went on a week camping trip to Los Padres National Forrest. We were supposed to go to a specific spot call "The Indians", but it was raining so much that we couldn't use the roads to get there. So we settled at a different local, and set up in the rain! This was the view on one side of the campsite. Any offense taken may be directed at him ;). That p...

Old Song Resung - Herbs in the 21st Century: Poke!
http://oldsongresung.blogspot.com/2010/12/poke.html
Tuesday, December 7, 2010. No, I don't mean that physically. But if you do want to poke someone right now, feel free. I give you permission to annoy someone today. I'm actually referring to the Poke plant, Phytolacca spp. This beautiful plant is coming up everywhere! The "weed" at grandma's is a poke! Poke kept coming up in class the last few weeks because of some experimenting with the berries (which I'll explain! And Mary, at Herban Lifesyle. Is quite lengthy, but very comprehensive. I've heard/rea...

Old Song Resung - Herbs in the 21st Century: Plant Walk: Bodega Bay
http://oldsongresung.blogspot.com/2010/04/plant-walk-bodega-bay.html
Monday, April 5, 2010. Plant Walk: Bodega Bay. My friend Claire came up from Berkeley on Friday to spend the weekend. We drove out to the beach (the beach is only an hour away, sweet! And hiked around Bodega Bay. Beautiful, beautiful day. This baby elephant seal came out from the water to warm up. Scarlet pimpernel (not really very scarlet). Cow parsnip (note the fly infestation). Yes, there was even an egg slap. No, I've no idea what that means. Lots and lots of lupine (including yellow! I hate playing ...

Old Song Resung - Herbs in the 21st Century: Medicine Show
http://oldsongresung.blogspot.com/2010/10/medicine-show.html
Tuesday, October 12, 2010. I must admit, I could make time to post more frequently. But to be honest, I'm having too much fun doing other things! California quite suits me :D. Our big term project at school (this was months ago! Was an herbal medicine show. All of us students set up booths to show off our beautiful medicines. The event was publicized to the community, and people showed up from all over the bay area. We even had a few people from Berkeley and Marin Co. (not a short drive!

Old Song Resung - Herbs in the 21st Century: Botany
http://oldsongresung.blogspot.com/2010/06/botany.html
Monday, June 28, 2010. Whew, I'm half way through CSHS! I can't believe how fast it's going. Last week we had "finals" (as much as hippie herbalists do finals). One of our projects was to press/sketch/photograph 10 flowering plants, and write about them. I won't bore you with what I wrote, but the plants themselves sure are beautiful. June 28, 2010 at 7:20 PM. It sounds like great project. Congratulations on making it to the half way mark! June 28, 2010 at 7:48 PM. July 21, 2010 at 1:55 PM.
