November | 2014 | Transitions To Madness
https://transitionstomadness.wordpress.com/2014/11
Monthly Archives: November 2014. Sailing is not for sissies. November 29, 2014. Disclaimer: I really don’t like the use of the word sissies since it came from sister and implies that sisters (females) are weak and uncool. Which is so not true. But the alliteration was too much of an enticement. I tried wienies. wussies, and so on, but didn’t like the sound and caved. Sigh. Sailing is not for the faint of heart, either. The start of this blog was written in August. We’re actually in pretty good shape ...
July | 2014 | Transitions To Madness

Monthly Archives: July 2014. Laugh at us, but never at the gods. July 26, 2014. July 6, 2014: a very important date in our sailing saga. We threw our first on-board party; a necessity to appease the gods of sailing. The party part fits in with my personal philosophy of housekeeping: if you want a clean (or at least not messy) house, schedule a party. So, we did. It forced us to clean and stash stuff. Most of which we will probably never find again. Screw it. So, on Wednesday, July 2. Anyhow, in that some...
Despair in Delaware – Or How the Smallest State Kicked Our Ass Again | Transitions To Madness
https://transitionstomadness.wordpress.com/2015/07/27/despair-in-delaware-or-how-the-smallest-state-kicked-our-ass-again
Despair in Delaware Or How the Smallest State Kicked Our Ass Again. July 27, 2015. After a lovely stay on anchor in Cape May, NJ, we headed up the Delaware Bay to Delaware City, DE, with a renewed intent to love Delaware (since Lewes, DE, hadn’t worked out so well for us). Delaware City is a bit up the Delaware River, a couple of miles north of the Bay itself and of the Delaware and Chesapeake Canal, which is the 12 mile cut-over to the Chesapeake Bay. Lincoln abrogated Habeas Corpus during the Civil War...

Birthday on the Boat – and Reflections. July 20, 2015. Anyone who knows me well knows that I love birthdays. Anyone’s, including my own. Birthdays should be a celebration of how glad we are that the celebrant is here with us, even with all his/her foibles, oddities and eccentricities. I admit, I got excited last week when the woman in CVS said, I know it’s early, but Happy Birthday! I almost clapped. I’m embarrassed to tell you that. All I can say is, Woot! You can’t get there from here. For better or wo...
Chesapeake and Delaware Canal – we love it! | Transitions To Madness

Chesapeake and Delaware Canal – we love it! August 4, 2015. The canal was originally privately financed (think mule teams pulling barges), but ultimately purchased by the federal government and the Army Corp of Engineers now control it – and keep the channel dredged with nice deep water. Yum. Wow, can I digress or what? They have a free town dinghy dock that’s a huge deal for us. More pictures can be found on facebook at Terry L. Brabb. Creating AND Sharing Value. A look at strategies for growing business and increasing impact. Seth Godin’s Intern? May 28, 2013. A few days ago a friend sent me a link to Seth’s call for intern applications. That I had somehow missed), and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. So I googled. This guy has written a great post. The end of Florida. Finishing the Loop →. April 27, 2016. Georgia, South Carolina, and part of North Carolina, have large tides and strong currents, coupled with narrow, shallow waterways. One person told me there is a lot of water there, it’s just spread over a large area so no one spot has very much of it. I believe him. This is typical scenery along here.hardly above sea level, no wonder South Carolina calls it the Low Country . It’s a long way to deep water. Another person who failed spelling. It fir...

Wednesday, 26 September 2012. Thinking about the future. This is the final thread on the blog. We would really like to know what your ideas might be regarding services and support for people with Lupus. That is, if you had to design a comprehensive service for people with Lupus and other auto-immune conditions what would it look like - who would staff the service, what services would be offered and where would they be based etc? Thanks very much for all your contributions. Liz W and Liz P. Liz W and Liz P.
