The Adventures of Traveling Ann: August 2012
http://travelingann.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 31, 2012. I dont miss my commute. And I don't miss working in an office. But sometimes I miss how they both boxed in my day. When you work in office you couldn't mess around in the morning. Any disaster had to be dealt with in the 15 minutes before you left for work. After that it was either over or you would deal with it when you got home. Maybe I just think about different things differently now. Now I must balance my need to work with my desire to see him when he's available. We have a ...
The Adventures of Traveling Ann: Outlander Excitement
http://travelingann.blogspot.com/2014/08/outlander-excitement.html
Monday, August 11, 2014. Did you watch the Outlander premier on Saturday? It was actually my second time watching the episode as I'd cracked and watched it on-demand earlier in the week. My mother-in-law introduced the books to be back in 2002 or so. She told me it was about time travel, but that first one is a bodice ripper in my opinion. The "romance novel" aspects do get toned down in the later books. Having allowed myself to get sucked into the hype on social media and the Starz. Another issue is the...
The Adventures of Traveling Ann: January 2015
http://travelingann.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 24, 2015. I woke up this morning with a potentially brilliant idea. My iPhone suggested "dangerous " after I typed "potentially", Siri knows me so well. Anyway, I knit this Buttercup top last Summer. Halfway through I read that the pattern runs large. Turns out that is accurate. The body fit well, but the bodice was a bit plunging for my taste. After all that time knitting, I wore it anyway. Then this morning I woke up and thought, "Why not just frog the problem area? At most, it might ...
The Adventures of Traveling Ann: April 2015
http://travelingann.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 15, 2015. We are on vacation in Washington state. Drinking ALL the wine! These first few nights we're staying at The Inn at Abeja, which is beautiful. When we checked in last night I saw this foot form. Maybe it's a shoe form? I couldn't resist trying a sock on it. I was a bit surprised by how well it fit! Then I wondered how the form compared to my foot. The width is probably the same, but the toes are longer. I guess it wouldn't be a good sock blocker. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). This ...
The Adventures of Traveling Ann: Faux Foot!
http://travelingann.blogspot.com/2015/05/faux-foot.html
Sunday, May 24, 2015. Inspired by the wooden foot form I saw at Abeja in Washington state and the idea of a custom dress form made with an old t-shirt and duct tape, I decided to try to use the idea to make a foot. Mom bought me a few designs from which to select. Originally I wanted houndstooth, but when she saw all the choices I couldn't make up my mind. In the end, we decided the argyle was the most appropriate. Layers were carefully added in small sections to conform to the shape of my foot. I'll pro...

The Daily Picture Project: August 2010
http://thedailypictureproject.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
The Daily Picture Project. This is pretty much just what the title says, except that "daily" might be a bit presumptuous. Sunday, August 22, 2010. Ever since he and Lois married, Superman really let himself go. So which is it? These two ads popped up side by side on one website. I would have. Taken either ad by itself at face value for the message it carried. Allstate can save $468 on average OR Allstate can save $348 on. Average). But together they strike me as meaningless. Still its. Lens to the Ground.
I knit. Any questions?: Did ya miss me?
http://jellidonut.blogspot.com/2014/12/did-ya-miss-me.html
Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Did ya miss me? Once again I'm starting a blog post with "my poor neglected blog." But I have an excuse. Several in fact! I have a pattern in the Winter 2014 issue of knitty.com. I did my "research" for this pattern on a Baltic knitting cruise this past summer. This crossed off a big portion of my bucket list, and yes, I know how lucky I am. I'll set up an album with a few of the hundreds of photos I took. If you're not familiar with Stories in Stitches. A few people seem to...

Friday, April 27, 2012. Can Ikea show you how to make your own dinosaur? If you don't think Ikea is taking over the world, or at least popular culture, I offer you proof. The science geek in me loves this, but I guess you could say I'm just a little biased. The second link is to photos of my studio, which is furnished almost exclusively with Ikea stuff, in case you haven't seen it. So why haven't we embraced the Japanese style of knitting and crochet patterns? What do you think? Have a great weekend!
I knit. Any questions?: July 2012
http://jellidonut.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 20, 2012. Do Something You Love Today. It's hard to find words sometimes. Last night, about half an hour from where I live, 12 people were murdered. More will probably die from their injuries. The only thing they did was go to a movie and now they're gone. But I know one thing for sure. I never want to be one of those people who can just shrug it off and go on about their lives and say, "Meh, why should I feel bad about it? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
