http://littlehouseinthebigburbs.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 20, 2010. Madrona Fiber Arts Festival 2010. Venue for last weekend's fiber festival: Hotel Murano in Tacoma, WA. About an hour's drive from the big 'burbs- - the hotel takes it decor theme from the nearby Tacoma Glass Museum. Digs for the weekend: (And I'm certain the Tied Up sign refers to yarn and yarn endeavors, of course.). View from floor 23: Downtown district and Puget Sound. (Good grief- - when the sun is shining in Seattle, I daresay there's no prettier place.). Marta's awesome...

She's the mom who's knitting: June 2012

She's the mom who's knitting. Where everyday is Knit in Public Day. much to her children's embarrassment. Friday, June 22, 2012. The last two months have disappeared into the ozone layer. Frankly, I blame it on my iPad. But occasionally, I keep thinking about all the things I have up in my brain and I need a place to spill it.so here I am. Here is the last 2 months in 10 points. Ended last week. Except for exams. But they will both be done by the 22nd. Which is today. 6 Calgary weather continues to suck&...

Little House in the Big 'Burbs: April 2010
http://littlehouseinthebigburbs.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 13, 2010. The button wall at Tricoter. In Seattle: one of my favorite destinations within one of my favorite destinations. It could very well be Disneyland to me. A visit to the button wall means that I've recently completed a knitted item. Beth. Instead of the originally intended Pagan. Hopefully, it will be a versatile piece. With help from Ola, I settled on these horn buttons and decided to apply them with the wrong side facing out. I love my local yarn store ;). Posted by The Big Burbs.

She's the mom who's knitting. Where everyday is Knit in Public Day. much to her children's embarrassment. Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Happy Birthday to me. Tomorrow I turn 54. Man that sounds old. But I don't really think of myself as old - more middle-aged. That's probably a misnomer, because that means I expect to live to 108 - which might be possible.but I don't think so. Try and find the humour in every day living - because most of it is quite funny. Stay gender-neutral in your teachings. Boys need to...

Little House in the Big 'Burbs: Coming into one's own.
http://littlehouseinthebigburbs.blogspot.com/2009/02/im-just-tired-of-wrong-answers.html
Monday, February 23, 2009. Coming into one's own. Flashback two years. We are hopeful, but wary. Our son sits quietly with us in an interview we've set up with a new school. We've spoken with the admissions counselor and now it's Nathan's turn to speak. Nathan was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of three. Our effort to ensure his education within our local school system was a six year battle that culminated into one awful moment for our son. Let's go home now," I said. You were two yea...

The Adventures of Traveling Ann: Faux Foot!
http://travelingann.blogspot.com/2015/05/faux-foot.html
Sunday, May 24, 2015. Inspired by the wooden foot form I saw at Abeja in Washington state and the idea of a custom dress form made with an old t-shirt and duct tape, I decided to try to use the idea to make a foot. Mom bought me a few designs from which to select. Originally I wanted houndstooth, but when she saw all the choices I couldn't make up my mind. In the end, we decided the argyle was the most appropriate. Layers were carefully added in small sections to conform to the shape of my foot. I'll pro...

Knitstress: December 2012
http://knitstress-clea.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 10, 2012. In the past few years it has become a tradition for me to give the kids a little amigurumi for the last day of advent. The first year I had a less than successful reindeer and a really cute owl. Last year I made up my own elfy-type patterns. I think it's about time for me to start thinking about this year's little stuffed guys. Gnomes are currently my top choice, especially the No Home Gnomes pattern by Phoeny http:/ www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/no-home-gnomes. I explore an...

Knitstress: White Lace
http://knitstress-clea.blogspot.com/2013/04/white-lace.html
Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Just starting a white lace piece for the sheer beauty of it which is appropriate because the stitch pattern is out of Barbara Walker's Treasury of Knitting Patterns book 1. It is the Wave and Shield Pattern. The yarn is some vintage Bernat Corret which I think was a gift from my parents. It's 95% wool and 5% nylon with a funny stretchiness to it and some nubly texture so this is purely an experiment and we'll see what happens. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Did ya miss me?
