Little House in the Big 'Burbs: February 2010
http://littlehouseinthebigburbs.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 20, 2010. Madrona Fiber Arts Festival 2010. Venue for last weekend's fiber festival: Hotel Murano in Tacoma, WA. About an hour's drive from the big 'burbs- - the hotel takes it decor theme from the nearby Tacoma Glass Museum. Digs for the weekend: (And I'm certain the Tied Up sign refers to yarn and yarn endeavors, of course.). View from floor 23: Downtown district and Puget Sound. (Good grief- - when the sun is shining in Seattle, I daresay there's no prettier place.). Marta's awesome...

Tuesday, April 13, 2010. The button wall at Tricoter. In Seattle: one of my favorite destinations within one of my favorite destinations. It could very well be Disneyland to me. A visit to the button wall means that I've recently completed a knitted item. Beth. Instead of the originally intended Pagan. Hopefully, it will be a versatile piece. With help from Ola, I settled on these horn buttons and decided to apply them with the wrong side facing out. I love my local yarn store ;). Posted by The Big Burbs.

Little House in the Big 'Burbs: A short history...

Tuesday, February 3, 2009. When I first met my husband, we would eat dinner around 9pm almost every night. I taught piano at a private music school and didn’t have to be at work until 3pm on lesson days so (at least I) could afford to stay up late. That was 16 years ago. Posted by The Big Burbs. February 3, 2009 at 8:52 PM. We like to eat dinner late too! Always funny when people call at 6:30 and ask if we are having dinner. :). February 3, 2009 at 8:59 PM. February 4, 2009 at 4:09 PM. I know. huhu :).

Friday, May 22, 2009. Is this the little girl I carried? Is this the little boy at play? I don't remember growing older. when did they? Colby's 4th grade class sang selections from. Fiddler on the Roof. As part of a Broadway-themed (no complaints from me) Mother's Day tea a few weeks ago. If those lyrics hadn't struck a chord with me at the tea, they certainly did yesterday. It really went by too quickly. In just three short years, she'll be choosing a college to attend. And in four. Gulp. Imagine that, ...

So excited to announce that I published my first pattern, Folha Luz. It being my first design, I am hoping that not only will people like it, but that it will be a fun knit to boot.🙂 I know that I loved knitting it up and have been wearing it every chance I get – it’s so soft and cozy in the gorgeous Fiberphile Merino Cashmere Sock! Here are some of the specs for the shawlette:. It is a perfect accessory to layer on during the Winter months and to keep you warm on chilly Spring and Fall days. Pattern in...

Our plum tree has had so many fruit this summer, and as R is in NYC for work for a few weeks, there is no way I could eat them all. And I've given pounds of them away to friends already. So I made jam. 45 cups pitted plums. Juice of 1/4 lemon. In the meantime, this. Is my new project. Posted by Woolly Stuff. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

It's finally starting to feel like home; hopefully the nightmare bit is over. Did I tell you that our estate agent deliberately misled us, and had a damp survey altered to hide the fact that the kitchen has a lot of damp? And this week, we put in a path (see the compost bin in the back, there? Next week, we should get some flowers.

London, United Kingdom. View my complete profile. At Home Mommy Knits. Little House in the Big 'Burbs. Yet another trip to Scotland. Are you following me? I had to frog Amber. Because even though I knit the smallest size, I was absolutely drowning in it. I've resized it, dropping the cast-on from 56 stitches per front and back, to 40 stitches per front and back. That's 32 stitches less than the pattern called for, in total! And it's just right, I think. Now all that's left is the cowl neck.

It's just lazy and its only result can be maintaining the status quo. We don't live in the best of all possible worlds. Therefore, any issue of any importance will be a slippery slope. This doesn't mean people shouldn't take a stand. I'm now stepping off my soapbox. Back to knitting next post. Posted by Woolly Stuff.

London, United Kingdom. View my complete profile. At Home Mommy Knits. Little House in the Big 'Burbs. Are you following me? Has been so frustrating. First of all, since usually even the smallest sizes are too big for me, I knitted it in the smallest size on a slightly smaller needle. It came out way too small, and I had to rip it all back to nothing. There are so many nice details:. I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Posted by Woolly Stuff. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

So, that was an absolutely lovely way to start the day.

Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Faith of a Child. Many of you have heard stories about one of our students, Amy. She is in E4 this year. Amy has become a part of our mission family because Petrea (an amazing member of our team) has built a strong relationship with her and her family. Amy has begun to come to church with us and she spends a lot of time with the team; always asking questions and learning about Christ. Dear Teachers (she named each of us individually, I will spare you),. Do you enjoy it? Praise...
