Traversing the Globe: Journal: Last Stop: New York City!

http://traversingtheglobe-journal.blogspot.com/2007/05/last-stop-new-york-city.html

Thursday, May 31, 2007. Last Stop: New York City! Alex and I arrived into New York City bright and early on a Sunday morning. We had spent the previous night in a motel just outside of the city and had to come in at such an un-godly hour to drop of our car in Greenwich Village. As it was a Sunday, we were fortunate enough that the traffic in Manhattan was practically non-existant! We were able to whizz through the grid-like streets in no time. Alex and I outside the Flatiron Building. To meet up with my ...

Sunday, February 25, 2007. We arrived in Brisbane early, and as we only had one day before heading to Rainbow Beach, we found a hostel right next to the bus station, dumped our bags and excitedly headed off to the city centre to see what Brisbane was all about. We hung out and stared at the map desperately trying to work out where we were, and what to do for the day, as there seemed to be very little that Brisbane had to offer. I was feeling very tired, sad and bored- what will we do in Brisbane? We watc...

Friday, March 30, 2007. Auckland: Farewell to Colette! Collette, Alex and I spent our penultimate day in New Zealand leisurely driving up from Turangi to Auckland. We stopped in Lake Taupo for lunch, but the weather was as bad as it had been when we had previously stopped there a few weeks ago, so we didn't stay long. Mmm, yummy and healthy (for a change! The three of us together.for the last time- sob! Our last day in New Zealand we headed to a mall for haircuts and shopping! Alex and I are catching a p...

Friday, January 26, 2007. Apparently room 38 (right) was used for Leonardo DiCaprio's room (the interior, I think). Our room was No. 40 (left). We were a bit worried that it would be a complete dive (as it was in the film) but our room was big, with the highest ceilings we've seen for a while! However, when we got there we had some trouble finding a place to stay; all guesthouses either cost over 2000 baht or were full! Thankfully, I enquired in one of the backstreet Guesthouse-cum-massage parlours, and ...

Saturday, April 28, 2007. The Drive to San Francisco. We had a perfect day for it as you can see:. In the beginning I think Claire was more than happy to get out of the car. As we progressed we became aware of a gathering fog which stared to flow up the the steep relief. Thankfully it did nothing to spoil the perfect day and in fact added to the spectacle:. Just look at that view! This is probably our eighth stop - no joke! If you wait a while you might just see someone you know! Friday, April 27, 2007.

Traversing the Globe: Journal: Fairfax Virginia

http://traversingtheglobe-journal.blogspot.com/2007/05/fairfax-virginia.html

Friday, May 25, 2007. Oh well, our motel-roaming lifestyle of the last few weeks had forced us to miss breakfast on most days so we were pretty famished! And it was tasty food! The following night we would be meeting up with Jamie's older brother, Austin, who I also used to know well. But before that it was time to get me that all important serum! It was a different story with the other two houses, which I recognised as soon as we neared them (I didn't even need the house numbers! My memories of Flintrid...

Friday, June 01, 2007. During our last month, with the end in sight, we became more and more ready to head back home to our friends and family. It was a strange feeling getting onto an aeroplane for the tenth time and to feel as excited about seeing my home again as I was about seeing the cow-filled streets of India, or the coconut-milk-enriched people of Thailand. This, you can see on my face:. You can't really tell, but I'm actually a little sad too. Claire, wake up! And my slightly smaller entourage.

Traversing the Globe: Journal: Washington DC

http://traversingtheglobe-journal.blogspot.com/2007/05/washington-dc.html

Wednesday, May 23, 2007. We arrived into DC relatively early and determined to get some blogging done. You'd think that the American Capital would be filled with high-tech internet cafes and every amenity one could ever want; err, wrong! Using our Gratuitously Pointless Sidekick (GPS) we managed to thrice-circumnavigate and eventually arrive at a motel of acceptable quality-to-thrift ratio. After settling in we also used the Hertz. Lost' system (O' the irony! System. After wasting so much time on try...

Traversing the Globe: Profile

After spending four years cultivating a very healthy debt to The Student Loan Company at the University of East Anglia, I have been working hard to earn some cash to put towards this little jaunt around the planet. I hope we do get round to uploading lots of photos and make little comments along the way. Even if no-one else, at least mum can check up on me! I can't wait for my real favourite person ever and I to set off on that fateful date. We've got so much planning to do and such little time.
