Ramblings of a Woodworker. Musings about my adventures in furniture making. Monday, April 30, 2012. Safety Week is here again! Although I've not participated in safety week in the past years, I've found all of the various blog posts to be good reminders that disaster can be only a stroke of the chisel away. Thanks to Marc at The Wood Whisperer for starting this annual event in an attempt to keep us safe! Tip 1: Realize when you've done enough for one day. Tip 2: Your hands are not vises! So, keep your he...

Saturday, October 25, 2008. Compound Angle for the Drill Press. By Lord LQQK at the WoodSmithy. Once a while back I was really into making rocking chairs. Although I would really like to make more of them but my focus has temporarily gone elsewhere. Well, some of you know me from my time in the TWW. I did find an answer, though it lead me back to my high school Trig books. Ok. Well it lead me to Google where I refreshed on sine, cosine, and tangent. I always forget sine is adjacent/ hyp. Sin A = a/h.

Saturday, December 13, 2008. Online Application Demo Using WebCamMax. By Lord LQQK at the WoodSmithy. I have just set up and used WebCamMax. To stream my desktop screen up to ustream. I found the application to be VERY easy to use and very intuitive. I needed something to do demonstrations of applications that I use in wood working. I use SketchUp for setting up and dimensioning my designs and to accurately get all my angles and measurement in almost like a blue print format. The installation of WebCamMax.

Sonography of the heart: Miraculous things
http://zwickerhzwicker.blogspot.com/2010/04/miraculous-things.html
Sonography of the heart. Musings - rants - notions. Friday, April 2, 2010. I woke up at 645 this morning, my right arm lying peacefully next to me. I'm sure it doesn't help that i'm normally a good sleeper - a great sleeper, in fact. it's a major blessing of this lifetime, worth the knock knees and the TMJ. But enough about that: it doesn't bear reliving. i slept! And woke up pain-free! Means something about you as an academic - i am prepared to call this my own spring miracle, and i will add to the list...

Ramblings of a Woodworker. Musings about my adventures in furniture making. Sunday, January 16, 2011. Turn, turn, turn. Last couple weeks have been pretty busy. Seeing as I would have had nothing to write about, I decided to spend the time in the shop and try out some turning. I was fortunate and avoided that mistake. The pens were turned from birch, purpleheart and ash. Nothing fancy really. The tops were turned from construction grade 2x4s and are about 1.5" tall. I chose to make a 6 sided bowl to mini...

Ramblings of a Woodworker. Musings about my adventures in furniture making. Wednesday, July 28, 2010. The $175.00 er . $234.00 Workbench. The benches in the crafting halls of LOTRO are massive but simplistic. My bench on the other hand is simplistic and light. While trying to dimension a small piece of Ash, the whole table rocks back and forth, the top slides around unless clamped to the sawhorses and the dog holes are oblong from he type of abuse which plywood is not designed to take without support.

Ramblings of a Woodworker. Musings about my adventures in furniture making. Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Space Saving Ideas - I. When you have a shop as small as mine, you start to look for creative ways to maximize the use of your floor space and your storage. However, the only tool that I don't seem to have space for is the Router Table. It's a Wolfcraft model that ends up either sitting on top of the table saw, the workbench or hanging off a wall somewhere. Router table in the up position. Time to clean up!
