Tri-ing Times Ahead

Triathlon race blog and other insights into the triathlon lifestyle. Monday, May 18, 2015. Cascade Lake Duathlon Race Report. This year I had special motivation to do well. I won my age group last year so I considered myself a defending champion of sorts. Even though I "aged up" this year I still felt like the title was mine to defend. This guy was motoring! Let's just say I was hoping he was over 55! Just as I got to the base of the ridge another guy in my age group passed me! Well now we have a race!

Tri-ing Times Ahead: August 2011

http://tri-ingtimesahead.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Triathlon race blog and other insights into the triathlon lifestyle. Monday, August 8, 2011. Run, walk or crawl, but get to the finish. So the race starts and I tell myself, "Hold back a bit". I check my watch after 1 mile and I'm running 7 and 1/2 minute miles, WAY TOO FAST! I slow down and finish the first 2 mile run in a very respectable 15 minutes and 49 seconds, but not exactly holding back. Still, I didn't feel to bad and I zipped through T1 in 1 minute. The Dreaded 2nd Run. So why might this be?

Tri-ing Times Ahead: June 2014

http://tri-ingtimesahead.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Triathlon race blog and other insights into the triathlon lifestyle. Monday, June 2, 2014. First race of the year - Hagerstown Duathlon #1. So I arrived at the first race of the year cautiously optimistic. This one of my favorite races for a couple of reasons: 1) It's short! I mean the whole race is over in about 75 minutes for me. Hell, the ride to the race takes an hour. 2) I have done well at this race. I have a 2nd and a 4th place in my age group in this race. 3) It's fast! It was a pretty good day w...

Triathlon race blog and other insights into the triathlon lifestyle. Sunday, September 21, 2014. Central Park Duathlon Race report. I am thinking, "This is dumb! Obviously I am not a woman and I am not trying to race as a woman can we just change the "F" to an "M"? I just say, "I am not arguing, just tell me what I need to do." He looks at me a bit surprised and then calls over an assistant. "Change his registration from female to male." I am thinking, "Really? I left my cleat covers on! OK definite faux...

Tri-ing Times Ahead: October 2014

http://tri-ingtimesahead.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Triathlon race blog and other insights into the triathlon lifestyle. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Hagerstown duathlon #2 - The season is over! The season (for me anyway) is over! It was long, it had some highs (first age group win), lows (complete debacle at my "A" race), and some unexpected twists (training in Florida for 3 weeks). But when all was said and done, I finished the season with 2 impressive performances and a huge amount of knowledge gained (more on that later). I'm usually pretty quick in tra...

Tri-ing Times Ahead: A Strange Training Week

http://tri-ingtimesahead.blogspot.com/2013/08/a-strange-training-week.html

Triathlon race blog and other insights into the triathlon lifestyle. Saturday, August 31, 2013. A Strange Training Week. Well week 5 of training for the Hagerstown race is in the books, and it has been quite a strange experience. Week 3 was a GREAT week of training, I managed to survive two very tough Sufferfest training videos ( Blender. And Hell Hath No Fury. Get in a brick workout, ride in the rain and feel good while doing it. The highlight of the week was watching the ladies of OnPoint Fitness.

Big Build Blog: Introduction

http://bigbuildblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/introduction.html

Saturday, February 14, 2009. If I'm going to actually get this blog underway, it should start with an introduction. This is me to the right there. This picture was taken 4 weeks ago.  I was feeling pretty good and thinking that I was ready to get down to the business of exercising and eating better.  WELL. One thing that I'm not going to talk about, though, is weight.  REALLY? 160;This comes from my personal trainer husband, Rob. We talk often about this. He even talks about it more on his blog. 160;He n...

Big Build Blog: February 2009

http://bigbuildblog.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 25, 2009. More thoughts on minding the heart. About a month ago, I was woken up by a large crashing sound. It was a familiar sound and it was coming from our closet. Yet another couple of shelves tore off of the walls. This happened once. Before on Rob's side of the closet. It woke us up then, too. Is there a law that structural failures always happen at 3 am? For those that aren't as familiar with my diet, you may have noticed that none of the food I've talked about eating has any an...

Tri-ing My Hardest

Tuesday, January 3, 2012. I suppose I didn't meant to ignore you for so long, but it happened. I hope you can all forgive me. It's a new year, so we can all start fresh, right? In a nutshell, here are all the things I failed to tell you about:. 1 After finding out about my giant cyst, I ended up having it out via emergency surgery. Talk about the best week at Weight Watchers ever! I was back to work within 5 days. Isn't modern medicine amazing? 3 I joined a new gym in the town I'm teaching in. That inclu...

Pursuing mind over matter ('cause I got nothin' in the matter category)! Monday, November 16, 2009. Holy smokes, the big show is nearly upon us. As training picked up over the past many months, blogging was dealt a blow. but so be it, not going to reflect on that. Thank you for adding so much to my life and looking forward to the years ahead! PS - I will have a blog entry summarizing as much as I can following raceday - by Thanksgiving weekend :). Thursday, October 22, 2009. 30 days and counting! I will ...

Tri-ing The Best I Can

Tri-ing The Best I Can. Race Results and Recaps. Saturday, January 3, 2015. Hi all. Remember me? You'll have to excuse my lack of posts these last few months but I have been in a hole. A dark and self loathing hole. Meredith, captain of my Swim Bike Mom Ambassador Team, recently wrote about this exact same thing, only she refers to it as her "cave". You can read about it here. Yep, that's exactly where I've been. Besides thoroughly enjoying the holidays that is, I'll just point you to my. Hard course wit...

Tri-ing to be Athletic

Going Funny for Money. Sunday, August 9, 2015. I am an Olympic (Distance) Triathlete! My recap of the 2015 Seafair triathlon. There's something to be said for making goals. This was me in January of 2014:. However, I gave myself a small caveat that I might wait until 2015 in order to pair it with my big birthday. The transition area was filled with mostly super-fit and experienced triathletes, me, and one guy who was not up to speed on all the finer details of the course. How did that happen? At the time...

Busan, the 2nd biggest city in South Korea. We took the train to Busan from Suncheon. I think it took around 2 hours. Illegally boarded the second train (we needed to transfer) to Busan and didn't get caught! No complaints. Contrary to popular belief, im actually very low maintenance. as long as its clean! Tri-ing to Stand Still

Tri-ing to Stand Still. The people who make impossible things happen believe that the only difference between possible and impossible is time." - Derek Garcia. Thursday, November 17, 2016.
