The swim will utilize Parkland High School’s eight-lane indoor pool. Athletes will complete three laps 75 yards. Lifeguards provided by Northwest Swim Club. The half mile run utilizes the flat, even drive around Parkland High School, starting on the poolside and finishing at the front entrance. Cetronia Ambulance will be on site and on the bike course for the duration of our event should emergency services be needed. Modeled after an earlier project by Mikayla and her art class at NAMS, Mikayla’s Voice developed the Wheels of Friendship inclusive painting program to give other groups of children this amazing opportunity. When classes (always including a child who uses a wheelchair or service dog! Without the fine motor skills to paint with her hands or any specially adapted equipment, it seemed as if there was no way for Mikayla to help her 7th grade class create a large acrylic painting. Yet, with help from her friends at Nazareth Area Middle School (NAMS) she was able to apply acrylic paint to canvas by using the wheels of her wheelchair.
