Corticosteroïden injecties worden bij een chronische ontsteking gegeven om zwelling en pijn te verminderen. Bij lokale corticosteroïden injecties worden KenacortA 10 (10 mgr. triamcinolen per ml.) of A 40 (40 mgr. triamcinolen per ml.) gebruikt. Het effect treedt meestal na enkele dagen op. De lidocaine is na enkele uren uitgewerkt. De pijn kan gedurende 2 tot 3 dagen na de injectie verergeren.
