When I told Jack I was going to blog about the game, he said That will surprise everyone you know, but I don’t think so, really, because I assumed my usual disinterest in the game itself. I won’t be boring you with that. Instead, I focused on the ambiance. Ice cream, anyone? An expanse of flat land like this is rare in Guanajuato. Recent imp...

Thoughts on moving on in time and place. A message from Paula. Monthly Archives: May 2015. May 22, 2015. That’s an estimate. I figure I’ve walked along the Echo River on average twice a week for at least twenty-five years about the time I decided I needed to incorporate intentional exercise into my life. Thoughts on moving on in time and place. A message from Paula. Thanks, Gloria et al. Family visit…post 1 →. Touring Ruins, Swimming with Alligators…. March 2, 2015. This part of Mexico is best known (to foreigners, at least) as home to the Mayan civilization which began around 1800 BC and ended with the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. Post-conquest, the city of Merida was one of the richest cities in the world, with more millionaires at the turn of the 20. End of history lesson. On to geography.

Jagged Edges | From Echo River

Thoughts on moving on in time and place. A message from Paula. River Walk 2500 →. May 3, 2015. Gradually, my jagged edges began to fall into place. This is not an easy place to live. A house in town would have been easier. A condo, even more so. And maybe the edges when I came home would have been less jagged. But there’s a flip side to those jagged edges: there’s something reassuring about finding myself again. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. River Walk 2500 →. May 6, 2015 at 1:42 pm. I figure I’ve walked along the Echo River on average twice a week for at least twenty-five years about the time I decided I needed to incorporate intentional exercise into my life. That estimate takes into account bad weather and, recently, winters away. The day I acquired Pacer, I smugly set off on my usual walk, certain I would hit the preset goal of 10,000 steps easily. H...

Thoughts on moving on in time and place. A message from Paula. 8220;Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks…”. Jagged Edges →. April 4, 2015. Tomorrow Easter marks the end of Semana Santa in Mexico. The week is a lively combination of the secular (balloons, cotton candy, vendors of all kinds, street food, bands at night in the plazas) and the sacred (altars outside homes, church services, and a variety of rituals that I don’t understand). And street food everywhere, of course. The next day, the Friday befo...
