Shayne and Jo Take Over the World (Asia): December 2006
http://shayneandjo.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Shayne and Jo Take Over the World (Asia). Saturday, December 30, 2006. A Taste of the Sea. Anyways, apart from giving our condolenses on a lost vacation, we took the opportunity to explore a side of Korean cuisine that we've hitherto ignored: seafood, and more specifically, raw fish. So Nah Ri drew us a map to the fish market and we promised to stop by around lunch time the next day. The picture above shows the outside of the fish market, built on a pier. From this view it seems pretty peaceful. After bu...

Shayne and Jo Take Over the World (Asia). Friday, August 10, 2007. Homeward bound.cue the Simon and Garfunkle. Well, old friends, this is it. The final blog we'll be writing from Asia. It's hard to believe we've been gone for thirteen months. It feels like only yesterday that Shayne was writing his great blubbering farewell to Canada. But enough about us.on to Thailand. Still, as you can see:. It wasn't all that bad. Awww just like home. The worst part is we paid quite a bit to stay there expecting to ha...

Shayne and Jo Take Over the World (Asia): July 2007
http://shayneandjo.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Shayne and Jo Take Over the World (Asia). Thursday, July 26, 2007. We tried several times to update the site in Cambodia but between our 1996 connection speeds and blackouts we could never manage to upload the pictures. It took us 7 hours to get from Cambodia to Thailand and we were on a bus with no shocks on a dirt road. After that it was another 5 hours or so to get to Bangkok. And what a better way to get started then by introducing you to the pride of Cambodia. The temples are slowly fighting nature ...

Guilty Displeasures: March 2014
http://neilshyminsky.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 28, 2014. Daryl Dixon and the phantom menace of his turn to the dark side. Eventually, I'll stop beating up on AMC's The Walking Dead. Eventually. Probably when it's over. In the meantime, I want to use the last episode to pick out one of the things that show routinely does wrong. And my example is Daryl's most recent character arc. (arrrr! Thar be spoilers ahead.). What I want to complain about is how hilariously unconvincing I find this ham-fisted attempt to create drama and tension. ...

Guilty Displeasures: Brief thoughts on a Conservative anti-drug radio spot
http://neilshyminsky.blogspot.com/2014/02/brief-thoughts-on-conservative-anti.html
Sunday, February 09, 2014. Brief thoughts on a Conservative anti-drug radio spot. From a Conservative Party of Canada radio ad:. There's so much I worry about as a mom. Justin Trudeau's plan to make marijuana legal certainly doesn't help. Imagine, making it available just like alcohol and cigarettes. He's sending the message that recreational drug use is okay.". 2) If pot were available in the same way that booze and smokes are available, it would actually be harder. For kids to buy. One of the thing...
