dhilaville: On Moving Abroad
https://dhilaville.blogspot.com/2015/07/in-moving-abroad.html
July 09, 2015. I came across these two articles on moving abroad and coming home: Repatriation Blues: Expats Struggle With the Dark Side of Coming Home. And 5 Depressing Side Effects No One Tells You About Moving Abroad. Which somehow managed to describe brilliantly how I've been feeling recently. Five months of being home only helps me realise even more how moving abroad, or just moving, has changed me as a person. And I thought I'd try my best to explain it in my own words. Moving to a new place is exc...

September 30, 2015. Books I Read This Month. As usual, you can read the reviews from the goodreads community by clicking on the cover :). Is especially interesting because it explains a lot, like A LOT, about my life as an introvert. I am looking forward to writing about that soon. PS What are you reading? September 17, 2015. Another great one by Bad Suns: their first single. That captured the severity of the haze condition in Indonesia is heartbreaking. Going to see this film. Love it, by the way).

March 24, 2016. Happily ever after.or getting there! I haven't written anything on my blog in a while.". Go write something then.". The challenges of a maturing relationship? What surprised me is, I didn't realise how unprepared I was for it. At what point did I get too comfortable with being alone? It's a useful trait to have (a friend said to me: "I wish I can enjoy travelling or doing things by myself like you do". And "Oh my God why are you doing that, are you crazy? 8592; Newer Posts. November 24, 2016. One down, two to go. Oh hello, second year. I've been expecting you. But then I proved that I am a fast learner (my cover letter didn't lie, yo! Writing my literature review (one of the deliverables for first year) was very enjoyable as well. Even though it was only a review of what's already out there, by writing it in a way that makes sense to me, and by following my own storyline, I still feel like I created something. In my own words (an Instagram caption from a while back):.

November 15, 2016. On giving and receiving. Don't sweat the small stuff". That's what people say. That's the secret to living life to the fullest, apparently. But I disagree. I think people forget that the small stuff is what makes up who we are. The decisions we make, the things we say to strangers, the way we treat those around us. It's all part of our beings. I'm soo far from perfect. You know when you were a kid and you were so sure you're gonna grow up to be a good person? 8592; Newer Posts. TRIGGER...

November 12, 2015. So I have one hour until my meeting and I am about to start a new topic for my literature review—a topic for which one hour is not at all enough. So here I am. Writing a post about this special day. I AM QUARTER OF A CENTURY OLD! And I live in a shared house with three boys (the mess! But I love my life right now. And that's all that matters right? I still have MANY dreams I want to achieve, but I'm not running around trying to fix everything right now. Which is a position I really...

July 31, 2015. On Being True to Myself. 8212; Cheryl Strayed, Tiny Beautiful Things. Have you ever come across that one sentence in a book that just speaks to you directly, and is somehow strangely related to your current situation? This is that sentence. As counterintuitive as it may sound, sometimes only by letting go of those arrogant, ambitious but overwhelming ideas about ourselves, can we do what we, deep inside, know we need. July 30, 2015. This may or may not be a regular kind of post now. Bu...

October 30, 2015. On Following My Heart. It feels like I've been waiting one whole year to share this story. To have this story to share. But now that it's time, I don't know where to start. I will try to write it the best possible way I can because this is about the most important decision of my life (thus far! Also this post will serve as a reminder if—nay, when—I feel helpless and frustrated in the future. I am proud to say that I am now officially enrolled as a research student! Being a research stud...
