In 1752 George Fox ,the founder of the Quakers , who was living at Swarthmoor Hall was reported as saying he didn't like Ulverston as the people were "liars, drunkards, whoremongers and thieves and fol-low filthy pleasures.". This set me thinking! What was the population and how many pubs were there? It doesn’t seem like a lot to me! What happened to the other 10?

Home - Ulverston Scrap Store. Saturdays 10.30am - 12.30pm. USS is now closed. A new group is being set up to replace USS and updates will be posted on the USS Facebook page. USS (Ulverston Scrap Store) was a small voluntary run charity set up to provide clean, safe scrap materials that can be used by schools, community groups, workshop leaders, Individuals and many others for their projects.
