MLIS Thesis: Uncover the Past. Sunday, February 12, 2012. Historical Drama and it's Impact on Perception. Unlike routine bloggers, I unfortunately fall into the tendency of thinking that everything I write must be amazingly well-thought-out and brilliantly impactful. Because of this, I haven’t written in quite some time. I apologize. If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably jumped headlong onto the Downton Abbey. How will it live up to the likes of Sense and Sensibility. Or how about the undertones of...

http://musingsinthemoments.blogspot.com/2016/10/pain-and-grace.html
MLIS Thesis: Uncover the Past. Wednesday, October 12, 2016. I feel like I am on the cusp of learning something. That this hard thing called life, is one big exercise in teaching me something vital about obedience and faith, love, hope, and peace. What would it look like for me to take steps of faith like that? In what area of my life is God calling me to obedience? Am I living in the freedom of Christ? Resignation for acceptance through a prayer of relinquishment. In her book, Beyond Ourselves. MLIS Thesis: Uncover the Past. Thursday, July 31, 2014. Silence Makes Us Knock". And recently I’ve been thinking about God’s timing. I am one year into my newest educational endeavor (something I thought would never happen! In thinking about all this (for probably the millionth time), I stumbled upon an article entitled “When God Seems Silent. There’s a quote floating around Pinterest that goes something like this: “If you’re waiting for God to open the door, praise Him in the hallway&#...Timing, and for...

One Moment at a Time . . . musings about life, history, faith and art: This is What Vulnerability Looks Like

MLIS Thesis: Uncover the Past. Sunday, October 2, 2016. This is What Vulnerability Looks Like. One of my favorite things about Sunday evenings is donning my apron, laying out all my ingredients, and making soup or stew for the coming week. It is a ritual that I prepare for with research and imagination. It is a creative endeavor with a practical outcome. It both excites and calms me. And it is something that I enjoy doing alone. This I know: I am. Good at being alone. I am not. Good at being lonely.

MLIS Thesis: Uncover the Past. Thursday, November 3, 2016. The Redemption of Being Brought Low. This is Part 3 of a series I am calling "Leaning In." Parts 1 and 2 can be found here. It’s funny how long it takes to learn something. It’s often said that 30 days will help form a habit. It is taking me much longer. These last few years in Chicago have been a challenging season of close friends leaving. My brother jokingly says, “you sure have the corner on people moving away! They spoke to my soul, and even...

MLIS Thesis: Uncover the Past. Sunday, May 4, 2014. This evening as I was walking towards the beach, I held a steady pace behind a man who was walking confidently with his nose in a book. He paused after a while and turned towards the gate in front of him, as if he was heading home. He looked up from his book and with a surprised expression exclaimed, “I’m on the wrong street! I almost laughed. I would have, if I hadn’t taken his exclamation so seriously. This might seem like an ordinary observation, not...
