Uruguay - Punta del Este. Punta del Este is a touristic city by the sea. However, the only camping site we found had all the flaws : far from the city, no bus stop within 1 km, far from the beach, no food store near, every camper close to each other.

Uruguay - Fray Bentos. Fray Bentos is along the Uruguay river that separates the country from Argentina. It is a 4-hour bus trip from Colonia, about 210 km north. We found a very quiet camping 8 km from the town, right on the river beach. Actually the place is called Las Canas. There are no big waves and it is perfect to swim and spend relaxing time in the water and on the beach.
