On the hottest day of the year | Slow Lane Life II

Slow Lane Life II. How we moved to the West Country and learned to slow down even more. On the hottest day of the year. July 3, 2015. A crumpled, creased, ring-finger-swollen, feet-aching, damp-eyed, and overwhelmingly happy day amongst friends and family. And the maddest wedding cake. May you have a long and happy marriage, my dearest son and new daughter. 26 thoughts on “ On the hottest day of the year. July 3, 2015 at 1:10 pm. Every best wish and happiness to you all. Live Simply Simply Live. Simply.smelling the roses. The perfume is so beautiful it almost makes me cry. Is there a smell which makes you tearful? Apart from onions :). The smell of fragrant roses is exquisite. Another wonderful smell is the smell of hundreds of different types of tea mingling in the air in the Mariage Freres tea room on Bourg Tibourg in Paris. The fragrance is so powerful it's incredible and wonderful at the same time. That tea room in Paris sounds intriguing. The rose is called Lucky!

In a vase on Monday: Rosy Posy | homeslip

In a vase on Monday: Rosy Posy. August 10, 2015. August 10, 2015. For this week’s In a vase on Monday I was inspired by Cathy’s mum to create a small posy to welcome home my daughter for the weekend. I had in mind a little Victorian posy and this is what I managed to glean from the garden. A flowering stem from Nandina domestica. One stem of Sedum, not yet colouring but such a good filler I’ve realised. One flower from Japanese Anemone ‘Honorine Jobert’. On my mantelpiece I have the last of the acidanthe...

Slow Lane Life II. How we moved to the West Country and learned to slow down even more. July 8, 2015. I’m trying to get back into regular blogging, as I miss it, and you, but have little to blog about at present. But here goes, a blog about not very much, just to keep my hand in. And what’s more, let’s have a 3-seater and a 2-seater! Thankfully, we liked them very much when they were made and delivered six weeks later). My back has Gone again. 8221; The fridge heaves with. From a Norfolk garden | acoastalplot

Gardening and family life by the sea. From a Norfolk garden. August 2, 2015. There’s a fine patch of Echinops (globe thistle) by the front drive which is buzzing with bees. My mother-in-law is an intuitive gardener and her garden gives her (and others) much pleasure. Since moving to this house in 2002, she has turned what was essentially a building site rather than a garden into a generous cornucopia of planting and has filled very nook and cranny with greenery. Any idea what this is? A potted calla lily...

Simplicity is the New Black: July 2012
http://simplicityisthenewblack.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Simplicity is the New Black. Wednesday, 18 July 2012. There is something so comfortable about coming here for all our holidays. Actually I hardly dare use the word 'holiday' as we are here for the whole of my daughter's school holidays which this summer amount to six and a bit weeks. The Hortensia are stunning this year. The very basic bread machine. Water, flour, salt and yeast. The bread in the machine. The loaf is a little sad looking, but makes good toast. For our first morning here. I don't know if ...

Slow Lane Life II. How we moved to the West Country and learned to slow down even more. June 12, 2015. At short notice, The Gardener took the afternoon off, and we packed the dog and her dinner into my new(ish) car and went to Lyme Regis, on the Jurassic Coast. Three counties in one day – Somerset, Devon and Dorset. Intrepid Travellers, us. I saw you go into that shop and now you’ve disappeared! Stifling laughter, we walked on. Looking back, there was no evidence of a kite in the sky, and we guessed ...

Mrs Ford's Diary. Insignificant people with our daily words and acts. Mrs Ford’s Address Book. Mrs Ford’s Reading Diary. Summer’s ripening breath. We Cater for Pleasure →. July 22, 2015. Long, long school term finally staggering to a close. Spend evening with husband and sons at school’s Sports Presentation Evening; undeniably thorough reports on every fixture of past academic year are fortunately interspersed with silly videos of teachers lip-syncing. 12 thoughts on “ End of Term. Mrs Ford's Diary. Insignificant people with our daily words and acts. Mrs Ford’s Address Book. Mrs Ford’s Reading Diary. Winning and losing →. June 30, 2015. Much talk about Heatwave tomorrow. Daughter is attending university open day and will have to battle with London Underground, and sons as usual seem to have several demanding sporting events apiece. I plan to do very little indeed. 12 thoughts on “ Summertime. Amy at love made my home. July 1, 2015 at 7:16 am. Many great joys in reaching middle age,...
